Trip meter knob, vanished after a ride, shit happens, bought a new one, fitted it with a wee bit of loktite.

Trip meter knob vanished again, shit keeps happening, bought a new one, this time when I went to fit it,,,,, nothing to screw into,,, just some thing that looks like the end of a speedo cable,,,,,,,,,some thing sust of come off,,,,no detail in the manual,,,, any body????

Yep it's a common problem. I've only ever used that button once and it flew away whilst I was riding! At my next trip to the dealer, bloke just laughed and said if he'd got a dollar for every one of those buttons falling off he'd be a rich man. He had a small container of them for replacements. I haven't touched it since and just leave it on the main odometer function.
