Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a couple of questions from you all. I've been riding for 30 years and have just traded my 09 Triumph Tbird on a 2016 Wide Glide. I've only ever owned one HD previous and had a heap of jap bikes and Triumphs. Regarding the WG I,ve done the standard mod - V&H - Air filter and tune but for the best mod I've installed the Progressive 444 rear shocks 1/2" higher then stock and put HD Progressive springs in the forks. I have also knocked the fork tubes through the triple trees so that the fork caps are now flush with the top triple tree. These mods have given an extra 20mm clearance and a firmer ride that has made the bike rideable and handle way better. Most of my riding is 2 up with the bride and when I had the stock suspension I was dragging the pipes, pegs  and frame around every corner. Anway the next thing I want to do is put some 14" apes and 2" risers plus braided lines etc.... The dealer has quoted $2150!!!!!! Another shop has quoted $1850 - cheaper but still alot of money. Any suggestions on doing this cheaper but with a quality finish? I am also chasing a wind screen for my annual long ride. I reckon they look like crap but I'm sick of getting smashed with wind and rain when doing the bigger multi day rides. Any advice on brand and price would be great. Heres a pic of my 2 rides. Cheers Dan

    Good'ay and welcome Dan.

Chasin up what you want parts wise for the bars and lines and sittin in the shed one weekend is gunna be your cheapest way out.

Screen wise, went through the shopping around and so forth a couple years ago for the Widey and best outcome for me was the HD quick detatch Sport screen, bought it through a crowd in the States called Custom Chrome at the time, not sure what the drum is now with them, Google is your friend.

Thanks for that mate. Your screen is ugly as hell but exactly what I am chasing. Can you remember what you payed for it? And yeah I've looked at buying all the parts for the ape hanger set up and installing myself. Its just so bloody hard to understand what you are getting when looking on the internet. The dealer reckons I can't do the ABS brake line myself as it needs to be pulsed but others say different?? Although expensive it may be easier just to wheel it into the shop and pick it up later. Still thinking about it??

Screen from Custom Chrome including postage was $AU325.00. quotes I got from Aust HD dealers was $AU550.00 over the counter.

Not sure how all that dog in the manger HD shit works now but places like Custom Chrome, J&P Cycles, Eastern Performance and so on would be the places to start looking.
That USA HD dealers not selling to Oz customers is still an issue I think,,,,,(unless you've got a mate in the states that will buy for you and mail it across.)

Just purchased a windsplitter for the fatboy from local HD dealer.  By all accounts these things are the ducks guts.  The opening on the box in the middle of the screen is apparently the key.  It is adjustable and takes away negative pressure or something like that from behind the screen  I have read a few reports and those that have them say they are great.  I pick it up tomorrow and hope to get a chance to fit it and try it out.  Will give an update when I can.  They come complete with all the quick release stuuf and I imagine they make them for a WG.

Not cheap at $540 but if they work as well as reported I will be happy.  Heres a pic of one.

By the way available in smoked or smoked !!!

    It's a clear type Dan.

    I'm 6 foot.

It works a treat, sends the wind up and over the top of my lid, open face, breeze around the bottom is less and tends to come upwards causing a light flow that lifts the whiskas.

When I first bought it I thought that I'd use it for the longer runs and remove it for the short blasts or when I got there,,, but i haven't taken it off at all, it's a permanent fixture.

When they say quick release, it is exactly that, firm, but four lever clamps and it's off

Thanks mate. Sounds geat. I'm gonna order one today I reckon. One last question though....Do you look through the shield or over it? I'm thinking of getting the light smoked

    Cheers, Dan
