Key Fob Batteries

I went to start my bike up last month and the key fob wasn't being recognised. I have two keys so I got the other set out and had the same issue - I thought no way can both batteries be gone on the same day, there must be something wrong with the alarm!!! I hit google for answers, went looking for my code to bypass the fob, I couldn't find where i put the fuckin code/book (I realise I am a dick head for this) - I was beginning to panic.

Everywhere was pointing to the fob batteries, so with little faith I went to Coles and bought two, installed them and it started stright away! I was so fuckin relieved and also amazed that they both went on the same day? I guess it makes sence as they were the same age, but I use one set more than the other and would of thought that may have altered the life span.

Im thinking of replacing them yearly now just to make sure I dont get stuck again. Anyway - how oftern do you guys change batteries?

FYI the code, by default, is usually the 5 last digits of your VIN.

Secondly I have found that re-moving and re-sitting the existing batteries works more often than not.

Had my bike since 2011 - I have not had to replace the batteries in either fob once, however one time one fob was not being recognised and in this case all I had to do was take the battery out and put it back in and was good to go.

Hey speedy did you have to get the fob programed by a dealer?

Also thanks noctm - if I ever get stuck I'll try reseating the battery...
I tried the last 5 digits of the vin and it didn't work, so it's either been changed or I fucked up the procedure. ... possibly the latter. ...

Mine did the same yesterday, FUCK is that alarm loud when your next to it in the garage, my ears are still ringing! Remembered seeing this post, so will try reseating the battery first (thanks Noctm), but reckon they must both be dead so will no doubt still have ringing ears tomorrow, yes kept near one another and the door remote, etc, etc. So another dickhead! Fuck it just buy the batteries and hope that works its worth no ringing ears

Now most of us can remember our birthdays !!! ( the married guys certainly will,, its probably the only time of the year some of you get a root),,.. Just change the fob battery on or around that day every year ... No dramas then !!! While your at it ,, may as well change the fire detector batteries,, and all the fucking remotes in the house !!!!!!

Cheers guys, she's going now, And, as for fire detectors, the last time mine went off, low battery, middle of the night and power cut ended up ripping the thing out of the fucking ceiling!
