Progressive 422 Standard or H duty??

Will fit Porgressive 422s to the rear of my 07 fatboy, but am just wondering standard or heavy duty?  I weigh 90kgs, the better half about 70 and we dont carry shit loads of gear on the bike.  For that matter Im on it by myself most of the time.

There is a set for sale in Geelong 2nd hand with minimal use for a good price and was thinking of buying them.  They are heavy duty though and Im wondering if it would be a mistake to put them on instead of standard.  Its a good saving from new but dont want to stuff my ride up.

After some opinions from those in the know thanks. ??

I have the standards on my fatboy and they are too harsh on the lightest setting
Considered removing them but i like the handling
I was told by a couple of suppliers not to go heavy duty unless i am 150 kgs

Yeh 2 inch over tubes and 10 weight oil
Softer ride with 5 weight too harsh with 20w
I do a lot of riding in the mountains and board scraping is an issue
Lifting the front and moving the boards forward helps
When i travel i go to 5 w oil in the front and original shocks in the rear

    Well there you go eh?

Not the biggest fan of Harley dealer shops however I do know one guy who works in one (in spares) who I consider to be vey experienced and a straight shooter. (yep, you can quote me on that).

I was looking into the progressives a while ago and he said that he would only order the heavy duty ones, unless of course you really wanted the standards.

I'm 90 kgs and the heavys were like sitting on a rock, swapped em for the standards, much better

I'm 84 kg and have standards , they are sometimes hard but happy overall with 2 up
Glad I went with standards over heavy duty

I have got the front ones. Those gas cartridge type ones. They seem pretty good, actually really good. I bought em mainly to stop continual leaking fork seal on the left hand side. My "TRUSTY SPARE PARTS GUY" said if I put these in it would stop leaky fork seals for good as they do not require much fork oil compared to the standard set up.

Having the progressives on the front does however highlight the deficiencies of the standard rears and been meaning to change the rears for some time. Maybe I am just a slack cunt or have too many bikes that all seem to demand stuff. Either way it was interesting to hear blokes say the heavy duty (rear) ones are too hard and the standards were preferable. Reckon I might go those ones too.

Oh yeah, noticed the front left fork seal is leaking agian. Fuck I hate that.

If I get the rear progressive standards before you I will give a critique.

    Cheers

Thanks Far Canal, and thanks for the run down on the front ones too. I thought that might be the case that the rear would seem worse with the front done. Did you fit the fronts yourself? I will be doing mine maybe this weekend and if so anything I need to watch out for re fitting them. ?
    Cheers

I had mine fitted the same time I had a stage 4 upgrade, so no. I have heard others on this forum say fittament is straightforward.

Been meaning to reply. Fitted them myself, only took a couple of hours. For anyone considering fitting them yourself, Make sure you have a rattle gun to undo that pesky little allen head bolt in the bottom of the fork or you will round the head off. Other than that its an easy job. They made a big difference to the front end behavior on my 07 fatboy as well. Highly recommended. As I said the rears are next. Expensive little bugger though.

for what it's worth I put the 422's on my FXSTC and put them on the softest setting as my sorry arse comes in at 75kg. I went straight to that setting as I fucked around with the originals till the cows come home and all I can say there is a little difference between to too but the 422 slightly better. with original HD shocks and my X on the back she was 52kg they were perfect sett at mid range=4 and half turns from softest from memory.
With the 422's loaded going away say my bags are 15kg I notice a better ride.
    cheers Jimmy
