Whats the general consensus out there for after market lights? The Harley Daymakers or Hoglights?

Both seem like good lights, one obviously cheaper than the other... But whats the quality and longevity like?

go for the day-makers if you can. I'm pretty sure they are made for HD by JW Speaker http://www.jwspeaker.com/

Hey Stel, you are correct mate, HD's are mostly made by JW Speaker, although there are some made by Trucklight too. I have a few of the Daymakers in my depot where the unit has started to disintegrate internally and looks like power inside. I'm yet to open one up to see why, but the previous owners have said HD dont know why either. These units are between 2 & 3 years old, so maybe there was an issue at the factory at the time. Either way, HD's solution was for the customer to buy a new light....

We offer a 3 year warranty on ours, so if it fails, we replace it. Simple.

    Hope this helps.

    cheers!

Nathan what is the comparison between light output and beam pattern, Harley branded to Hoglights?

Hi Bilko, depending on the unit mate. our 80w units blitz the standard HD ones, as we are running twice the wattage. The beam pattern is very similar to HD's daymakers.

I've got some new photos being done soon to give you a better idea of the output & beam patterns. Its been a bit hectic these last few months with the Fat Bob lights release and the new product designs we are doing. Too many things to do and never enough hours to do them... Oh well...

    cheers!

    hey Nate,

first I must apologise for my previous post to Tahcam. When he mentioned Hoglights I was under the impression it was some random OS brand and that is why I pointed out the HD Day-makers.

I just realised your a forum sponsor and checked your site. Your lights look the goods and I much prefer to support you (local small business) and I recommend all to do the same.

FYI: My daymaker from Harley has yet to give me any issues (3 years) however I paid nearly $500 for mine whereas yours are $290 and look the same...

    Cheers

Hey Stel, no problems mate. Understandably you have to be careful with what you recommend. I'm cautious too mate :-) We are slowly getting our name out there, but it all takes time.

I appreciate the endorsement mate and we're doing our best to make sure we can help our customers with good products, good service at a reasonable price. I'm glad that you, like many others, have had a good run with the Daymaker. I think it's an unfortunate few that had failures with them and a one year warranty doesn't help. I know our products are good, so we stand behind what we sell, it's the only way to do business.

Maybe we can help you out for your next ride! :-) We've a few new products coming in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for those too!

    Cheers!

I too must apologise then Nate, i am new to the forum, and new to Harleys, and i meant no disrespect. I certainly wasnt putting your product down, i quite like it to be honest. i wasnt aware that you are new to the market, i simply wanted to get the jump on what others are using, who have far more knowledge than i ,  i too am an advocate for supporting local and small business, and forum sponsers. Apologies also to site moderators, i should of looked up forum sponsors before posting the question.

Nate, looking at your website, the third pic in from the left ( Fat Bob ) seems to be darker. Is this the option you give on the page ( Chrome or Black ) or are you simply refering to the outer shell colour? Is that darker lens tinted?

Gday Guys... Just an update, i purchased a set of lights from Nate, and for what its worth ... Get Some.. i contacted Nate behind the scenes ( so as not to fllod this page ) , and i inundated him with so many questions. Not at one stage did he fob me off , did he consider my question unimportantant and i have never seen a Business like his keep you up to date EVERYDAY with the whole process. With Hog Lights, youre important, and they mean it.They are great Quality, easy to fit, and the postage is super quick.. Outstanding! Thanks Nate, i really do appreciate all that you stand for !
