Just fitted new P.M brake disc & pads to rear of my '96 FXDWG. Have been searching net for procedure for bedding in correctly, but advice found is mainly for cars & varies widely. I have never bothered doing this in the years previously but feel I may have lost out on braking effectiveness & parts longevity.

Anyone have a method to pass on? Cheers.

I normally give it some hard (ish)/ short bursts of braking , making sure you give them time to cool down between bursts.

Playing around like that for the first 100k's or so.

Not sure if that's the so called "correct" way but I've never ended up with glazed pads.

    Thanks Vic,
Your advice is similar to what I've been reading - plus avoiding any extremely hard braking/coming to complete stop for first couple hundred km's and also not 'dragging' brake.
Seems the idea is to quickly develop a deposit 'a few microns thick' onto the disc so as to achieve maximum braking effect.
    Cheers

Same deal. I always take it out the road and build up intensity until near emergency stops. A wise man once said to me better to test the limits of your brakes before you have to test the limits of your brakes.
