Know how you feel, mate. Its certainly worth all the effort in the long run though. We all want our Harleys to be unique , but share a common love of riding. When you're not doing that, life becomes very boring! Looking forward to seeing the end result.
About fucking time. I was sure you were pulling our legs. Seriously though congrats mate. I am sure it was worth the wait. Plus poor old spooky will have another friend now
Haha. We might have to start a red only group, Graz. Been a long wait! The Pt. Phillip trip looked like fun. The SG would surely be run in by now. Look forward to catching up soon.
You must be psychic, Softfat!. I was just reading your thread regarding this exact issue. I haven't taken the baffles out. The SE's are far too quiet for me, and your explanation seems to be a very quick way to arrive at the sound I'm after. It is it fairly easy to remove the baffles once the 2 safety screws are removed? Also, being new to a late model, choked emission wise bike, can any of you guys give us an easy take as to whether the exhaust flapper can be disconnected, and is this going to affect the tuning of the bike, or make her too loud. I know a million peeps have probably already asked this question, but I've got to start somewhere!
She's here now, finally. the bike did come through PBMT, and I ,compared to you ,and the glowing testimonials on his website, found him to be pretty unprofessional. It got here safely, but only after many phone calls to him that weren't returned. He was eventually tracked down by a lovely lady named Michelle (she went above and beyond to get me some arrival details) who worked for the original transport company from Gosford, which was ALLWEST motorcycle carriers .When Mr. Barker eventually decided to contact me, he stated that he would give me an hours notice to get home and take delivery of the bike. Seeing as I'd waited 4 bloody weeks since I had paid for it, and was getting pretty nervous when this bloke wasn't returning phone queries from myself, the dealership in Gosford, and the other transport mob, I sure as hell wasn't going to miss the delivery. I guess he'd already been paid and couldn't give a shit, as long as he got it there in his time frame. When it got unloaded, the bike was flat, so she had to be pushed into the shed and charged before I could even start her. He might have other people that recommend him, but he sure as hell won't get any kudos from me. Not a good experience overall. But, the bike is a pearler, and I can't wait to get some miles up.Hopefully I can catch up on the run you've organised. Cheers.
Thinking about it, I've always liked to have a set of OEM or quiet pipes sitting in the shed, just in case!. That then leads me to whether I buy a set of new pipes,or a decent set of slip ons with some more pleasant noises that don't affect performance unduly. Anyone out there have any suggestions, or have used a set up you can recommend for the late model 103's?
Hi Winger, Firstly Very Nice Bike !! In regards to slip on mufflers. I have the S&S tapered slip ons and highly recommend them. I thought the same as you and still have my original mufflers although mine being a US import had the less restrictive pipes like what Retroman sells which are still quiet enough to pass EPA but the S&S to me sound great and the performance is excellent enjoy the bike & really love the colour rob
Thanks, Rob. Doing a bit of research on the slip ons. Apparently the local dealership here has stopped selling the V&H versions due to an issue with the flapper valve not allowing them to slide on freely. If I'm going to use slip ons ,and not a whole system, i'd like it to be a simple bolt on without affecting emission set ups. I'm looking at a set of Firebrand Loose Cannons at the moment. They are relatively new from a small company going places out of Cali in the States The dealer is getting a set in from Rollies to check them out. I'll post something if I end up getting them.
