Ok im just about to get a new Fat bob,and before i outlay any cash i have a few queries that hopefully can be cleared up by someone other than a salesman trying to wring extra dosh out of me.Bog stock facory map,do ineed to do Harleys first base map for enrichment before going to after market tuners,PV ,FP3 for example and exhaust/AC upgrade.Im thinking of steering clear of Harley tuner from the start, dont want to buy two tuners. And is it best to add on said parts after first service or when i ride away with bike day one,any comments, suggestions appreciated as im new to all this right now, learning as i go along. Also is going wideband worth the extra outlay, cams down the track is the only other possible mod im contemplating. Thanks Dave

what do they charge you to put base map on? like do they charge for SE tuner and then charge a fee to load map/tune

there nothing wrong with SE tuner or the PV, TTS etc, you can get a map easily for all the tuners, pretty sure even the SE tuner has a database of maps you can access free

    Groot,

I was in a similar situation when I brought my Fat Bob last year. It was my first HD.

From new, I ended up getting the SE Tuner put on with the SE Heavy Breather and a D&D Fat Cat exhaust -- just the set up I wanted. From what I understand (and felt for myself), the SE Tuner worked fine without a specific tune initially, which I got done via Dyno at the first service (it was included for 'free' with purchasing the new bike). I think most blokes on here talk highly about the TTS tuner for future work but since all you want to do is maybe cams, perhaps the SE tuner could do ...  particularly if you get a better price. I plan cams in the future too. The other benefit is HD offers a two year warranty on any of their brand stuff purchased within the first month.

Lastly, and not knowing your circumstance, bargain hard and don't settle quickly. Get their offer on paper and approach a few other dealers to see if they want your business, if anything you might get a sense of how good a deal, or not, you have. You can talk and email the quote.

After all that, get on it and ride -- the Fat Bob is a lot of fun and will probably surprise you how much she digs a work out. Cheers.

I love the Fat Cat. I got mine in black and it suits my FXDF perfectly.

The quality and fit seems pretty much perfect to me too. I know plenty of blokes on here recommend the D&D products, including the Bob Cat. If you go with it or any other brand, pay particular attention to baffle options -- some after market pipes are 'loud'. On that score the Fat Cat sounds great with the 'quieter' louvered baffle, but your neighbours won't be appreciating it as much as you do if you start work early!
