#1... What do you do or I should say how do you balance family work and riding?

I have been in and out of Dr's and speacialists and a coupla days stay in hospital with my son who is bleeding from his little man bits.In the hospital all symptoms stopped.The day after we got home it all started again so now we wait till we can see specialists again.

On top of that I have picked up more work and one of the jobs was a mates sisters place. I started it on the Sunday  which  is the only  time I have available in the week to work  for her as Saturdays I am at sporting things with the kids and weekedays I am at my job. She has now rang me up asking to cancel me as I cant get the job finished before christmas( large house to be painted) as she has found another painter ( at least thats what she says) who can do it as he had a cancellation in his schedule.She has paid me some cash  for materials which I know have to give her back the balance after I take the one day payment for work I did.  edit.. Do you think this to be rude ?

Riding my bike just dont seem to be happening :-(.

I am at work  in an office and waiting for the first coat to dry  so finally  able to get back on the forum.

Is this a whine/whinge no so please dont think it is I am curious as to others opinions.

Family is #1. No question

I have always tried to shy away from working for friends and family ... to much hassle keeping them happy.

Family wise, they have always come first and always will. I have even almost thrown my job in many years agio when I was told I wasnt allowed to take sick leave when my wife had had an epileptic siezure and fell on a concrete seat in a shopping centre and knocked heaps of teeth out.and damaged her face. I took the time off till she was able to care for herself.

The main reason for the question was to see your opinions  how you all balance it out.

I'm in the same boat as well, I've got two young boys 4 & 2 years old. I find it pretty hard to find the time to ride especially on weekends because that's mostly when I've got time to spend with them.

I find a good way to do it is to make a deal with my wife where some days or even half days I look after the kids and she gets to go out, then she looks afte them in return while I go out. Aside from that I try and ride to work whenever I can. I'm lucky I don't have too much crap to carry with me.

I'm up for another ride fellas, so long as it's not this weekend. Got an overnight hospital visit my self tomorrow. Nothin too serious.

Scorp, sounds like you are under a bit of preasure. Life is full of compromise, Family, finace or leasure, you can lean a bit one way or the other on occasion, but we need a balance overall or it wont work. Weekends are busy lately, so I have been riding to work, it's a 100 km round trip so that works for me. Try to combine a few things.

Going for a ride tomorro  even if its a short one.I dont ride to work as I negotiated with my manager to use my  company truck  to and from work.More efficient time management as I can go direct to the job instead of the depot and messing about gettin in and out.

I need to get this monies back  to me mates sis that she wants so I can go out after I get home and see what needs to be done there.Then to me parents place as they are in Tassie for a trip and I looking after the house

Nath has had the ok from all his Dr's to go on the school camp (Dwellingup) so he is away until Wed night. If there is any problems the teachers have said they will bring him home if he needs too.

I definately need to get the wind in me face and will be   woohoo
