    how does this work pauly?
do they contact recovery contractors to collect the bike from breakdown location or do they have HD personnel come to asses the problem first then arrange for recovery?

    thanks

If you get about a bit on long rides , (specially if you ride by yourself a lot), Harley Assist , (or similar) , in my opinion is a must ...
I am with Harley Assist.. ($110 per year, cheaper if you are a Hog member)... Have used it once , (sensor problem).. I can highly recommend them ... Where ever you are, they will transport bike to nearest HD Dealer, (max $1000 in towing), which basically means anywhere .... You have to find your own way, at your cost to the dealer, ( this is easy, get in with the tow truck) !!!! If it is an easy fix at the dealer, your on your way again . If not,, you have max 3 nights accom , (at $150 per night), plus 3 days car rental ...
If you breakdown in a city area, the call out time would be the same as with the NRMA service.... If you breakdown in bum fuck area, the call out may be longer, as they also have to source a vehicle suitable for a motorcycle ....

Allianz. Cheaper than harley assist and the same service. When I say the same service, a mate around the corner called harley assist and out comes an Allianz roadside assist car.

Yeah, Harley Assist for me as well as RACV Total Care, with the total care it covers me for anything I ride or drive so that
could be anyone's bike on a group ride.

I've got RACV total care, I used to have Harley Assist but I needed cover the the car as well and I didn't see the point of having both.

I've never used RACV for the Harley but I used it for the 650 trail bike a few years back when I stuffed a back wheel, they loaded my bike onto a tilt tray, I hopped in the cab and they towed me to town and dropped me and the bike at a dealer. I was going again about 6 hours later.

I've heard that some RACV tow places don't have bike recovery (not sure how true that is)

I joined harley assist last year..After 4 weeks heard nothing from them(supposed to get a key tag or something with contact no ect.) I rang them up and they said I was a member and would send out what I needed and still nothing 9 months later...Is this the norm or are they usually up to speed with this stuff.

In 2009 I broke down 45 click out of Bendigo. Called RAA who put me onto RACV... they couldn't get a suitable truck so cancelled the call. Got back onto RAA and they organised a non-RACV accredited truck at my expense. They did pay for my accommodation and travel costs.

Now with no one... but might consider Harley Assist next long trip

looking at the difference between Harley Assist ($110) and Allianz Global Premium ($169) they have different cover for towing

Harley Assist covers $1000 per incident for towing and Allianz has cover for 100km Metro and 200km for Regional

is this basically the same or is $1000 going to cover many kms on a tow?

    thanks

Softfat - I believe you only need to join HOG international, not your local mob. Please correct me if I'm wrong someone...

Soft... You read alright, HOG International and local HOG member.

JFE . Is correct, you only need to be HOG International member for HA. To  join local HOG you must be both.
