Narrow Glide to Mid Glide Wheel Lacing Quiery

Hi guys, I have a question that may or may not mean buying new spokes for my new 21" rim.

I have an 09 FXDL with a mid glide front end, standard with 19" front wheel, optioned with profile 'smoothie' rims.

I have purchased (after a long, long search) a 21" profile 'smoothie' rim, laced to a narrow glide hub. The wheel is off an 04 XL1200C.

Both the Dyna and Sportser hubs use the same spoke style, unlike the Wide Glide wheels on Softails etc.

I am going to pull apart each wheel and lace the mid glide hub into the 21" wheel assembly to run on my FXDL, then sell the un-needed bits (19" rim, near new tire, narrow glide hub, 19" spokes).

Both spoke styles and hub spoke locking style is identical, however I notice the narrow glide sporty hub spoke holes are drilled not in a perfect circle, but slightly 'up' and 'down' around the radius of the hub, whereas the mid glide dyna hub holes are drilled in a perfect circle.

If you look closely at the spokes in the hub in the photo you should be able to see what I mean.

I'm hoping some wheel lacing expert can chime in here and tell me the difference is negligble and all will work perfect before I pull them apart and do the work!

I'll have the wheel trued at Chivo's in Granville and sell the parts on here.

    Thanks in advance!
    Mitch.

Why don't you just change the wheel bearings and fit a spacer to space out your disc rotor

Gday walka, I thought of that mate but I figured by the time I bought new bearings and inner spacer (sporty is 3/4" axle, Dyna is 25mm), then external axle spacers, then disc spacer, it would nearly be the same amount as getting the wheel trued at a shop. And I think I'd rather the mid glide hub for its slightly wider footprint, I think it wouldn't hurt given the extra stresses of the larger wheel on a wider front end. Probably negligible but would like it as original as possible.

We have a guru down here in Melbourne, but that probably not much help to you northerners.
