Bad Vibration

Hi, I have been looking to purchase my first Harley Davidson and I test rode a 1999 HARLEY DAVIDSON ULTRA CLASSIC ELECTRA GLIDE. The bike presented very well with only 45000klms, no service history and according to the non Harley dealer it was a one owner who took very good care of it but was tight with his money. The bike sitting at idle vibrated as Harleys do but to me this one seemed a little excessive. When I test road it the vibration never smoothed out even sitting on a smooth open highway, in fact it may have become worse. The mirrors were totally unreadable and the vibration went through your whole body to a point that riding any longer then 10 minutes would be unbearable. I have ridden newer Harleys that have that nice vibration at idle and smooth out brilliantly when you gather speed. Apart from this very strong vibration issue I really like the bike, is there anything I could suggest to the dealer to look at that may be causing this problem or are the older models just like that which I would be surprised because I think things would start falling off the bike. Thankyou for any advice you are able to give.

    Wheel bearings, engine mounts?

As a side note, an introduction is considered good manners rather than just blasting away.

So many bikes on the market going for a song why would you even bother? Just move onto the next one.

I'm with the other guys, the bike is too old and with no service history just walk away.

I had a '99 Glide Standard and moved to an '08 Street Glide. Chalk and cheese and I knew the service history.

There are plenty of good quality bikes out there for you. Go for '09 and up due to the overall improvements.
