Hog loader

Where I lived I have up 12 k's of gravel roads to negotiate, that varys from occasionally ok to down right dusty shitting and when it rains muddy and unrideable.

I will ride in all conditions normally.

Plus after a ride my hog is covered in red dust and while I'm a bit OCD about my Road King, I'm starting to get sick of cleaning her every ride.

So as I'm on my pat and even a trailer doesn't work, I designed a single operator loader to load her into my dust free van.

A little bit of extra work but I think worth it in the long run.

I'm editing a video of the loading but in the mean while a few pics to get the idea.

    Cheers

Looks like you've got the problem sorted there, well done. Only got about 400metres of gravel to get to my place but it's enough to notice the dust on it when you get home, 12 klm must be a real p.i.t.a. So how long does it take to load and unload?

What a bloody good idea... love one of those to be able to take carry the bike on long trips and then roll it out.

Road a sporty for a while and got comments... like 'its a girls bike'... don't take things seriously... though i thought having a vehicle you could take a bike with you would be handy... I would put my jap sports tourer in something like that... the misses has always gone with me on the back of bikes but getting less and less keen to go on long trips the older she gets... so when I said I wanted to tour Australia on the jap bike recently, she said... good idea, you go on the bike and I will go in the car... something like the van would be great, as I get really bored in long four wheel trips and every now and then I could roll the bike out and ride it... a compromise I suppose...  but don't think the minister of finance would approve.

As promised video of it in action, if it doesn't belong here I can move it.

Brilliant. Do you have to further secure the bike from side to side movement when in the van.  How hard would it be for the bike to fall over when moving up and down the ramp.

    If so

If you had something like 2 metal fork arms that the trolley slides under and that go either side of the wheels, could save further effort seeing as the bike looks firmly afixed to the trolley

    Well done on your ingenuity.

It's not to heavy, one man can carry it easy
I used channel so there is no chance of the bike tipping over, The 2 half's bolt together and the legs are used for that, the whole unit tilts as the bike go's up and down like a sea-saw balanced on the tray on the ute
