Can anyone reccommend an electroplating buisness in NSW or ACT where I can get a few bit's chromed ? Maybe the wheels even . There's a couple in Vic that advertise in the mags but frieght may be an issue. cheers

Scull, Only guessing but I think they drop the part into a acid bath to clean em up.

May be look up fabricators or machinists as they also do that type of stuff...

The local HD stealer in Canberra recommends and uses Electroplating Technology in Queanbeyan for chroming. I have a friend who restores cars and he says they do good work too.

I used Chrome World in Fyshwick ACT to get a stock wrinkle black HD speedo mount chromed, final result was pretty good but pricey (a new HD one is $195 and to chrome the stock one was $140).

You don't need to remove paint etc. before chroming, they do all that for you. Apparently the cost escalates according to how 'fiddly' the item is, because of the final polishing. So I imagine a wheel would be fairly expensive. Also, Chrome World told me not every kind of metal can be plated, and some common HD alloy bits don't give a good result. They actually suggested looking at chrome aftermarket parts first, and if too dear then getting a quote from them.

Brett we use Astor Metal finishes for our pipes and other bits. They do a great job and warrant all their work for us.

i have also used Astor Metal  - found them to be very good quality, was a bit slow but given the quality I was still very happy.
