Fatbob exhaust on a 2007 FXDWG?

Can anyone tell me if an exhaust off a fatbob will fit on to a 2007 Wideglide?  I currently have V&H 2-1 but I'm over the look and sound. I like the look of the fatbob system and I heard one fitted with SE slip ons the other day and although it was fairly quite I could live with the lack of noise. Cheers

Sorry... you need to be more specific.

As an example go to this page for an 08 Fat Bob: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/se-staggered-dual-slip-on-mufflers

Now select the "View all bikes this part fits" and you will see what else it fits.. in this case it's: Fits '08-later FXDF and '10-later FXDWG models equipped with 96CI or 103CI engines. Installation requires separate purchase of Muffler Clamps P/N 65296-95A (Qty 2).

All information is there if you look hard enough

Ok to be more specific, I'm wondering whether the headers from either a Fatbob or the new shape Wideglide (2010 onwards model) will bolt straight up to a 2007 (old style) Wideglide. I have the standard exhaust (in storage) already for my bike but prefer the style of the headers from the Fatbob and newer FXDWG. I realise the HD catalogue only refers to the standard headers when selecting the slip ons which means the newer style slip ons won't fit my headers, but If I can fit the Fatbob/ newer FXDWG headers it means I can then fit the newer style SE slip ons. One of the things I'm unsure of is if the mount brackets for the Fatbob exhaust will be a straight bolt on job.  My standard exhaust has front and rear mounts for the exhaust but I see on the parts fiche for the Fatbob that it appears to only have a rear mount bracket. Hopefully that all makes sense. So any ideas?

After a certain year the thread size for the O2 sensors changed, you will need to consider that

Thanks for that Daggs. I've found a set of pipes off a 2014 FXDWG. I see the part numbers for the O2 sensors are different between my 07 and the 2014. I guess I'll have to find out when the thread size changed. Not sure if I can just use O2 sensors from a 2014. I guess I could cut out the O2 sockets and weld the correct socket in. I'll call the HD dealer first to check on sizes first then go from there. It looks like the sensors changed in 2012 on the dynas.

Yes I think that's when it was but wasn't sure. It wouldn't worry me as I have the sockets plugged, I don't run with sensors

Also the FatBob or late wide glide header pipes that are 2-1-2 have the cat in the middle section, you might want to cut that out, retuning will be needed afterward though

Sounds like I might be best off sticking with putting my standard headers back on and looking for a different set of slip ons, just like the look of the HD slip ons for the newer dyna's.  So I gather all the HD 2-1-2 systems have the cat in them then?

They started putting the cat in the headers around 2010 and before that they used to put cats in the mufflers. Don't quote me on 2010 but it was sometime around then.

    HI,

You want to compare the transmission trap door on your 07 vs a 10 fxdwg or fatbob as 2-1-2 mounts onto 3 bolts on left side of door, i think 2013 yr was last of the 18mm sensors

I pretty sure all 07-up dyna have same frame just different fender, tail light and few other bits and pieces that are different

I ran the tommy gun with CycleShack slip ons and it was fine, the cat only a bit of an issue if in stop start on hot days you will enjoy the heat

Have just taken ProPipe off as bracket broke and put tommy gun back on so will be exciting to see the difference

Have just replaced my stock mufflers on FXDF with Freedom Performance Signature slip ons.

They are a BETTER match to stock, than SEs. ( and sound awesome ! )

Well I've located an exhaust with the 18mm O2 sensor sockets, just have to wait for them to turn up in the post, now to see if they fit my 2007 Wideglide. I have the mounting bracket so hopefully it's a straight up bolt on job. The mounting bracket I have is stamped 65696-08, I see it's been superseded by part number 65696-08A, anyone know the difference between the 2?  Next thing to decide on if the headers fit is the slip on pipes. I know the SE pipes are relatively quite at idle but can anyone shed some light on how the sound when riding? Also anyone know what the rough price for the SE are?  No doubt people are thinking its a Harley and it's meant to be loud but after living with the V&H 2-1 for 4 years it's time for a little bit of peace and quiet.

They are a sweet set up Speedy - do you run them with or without the quiet baffle? How loud would you say they are compared to stock?

    Apologies for the hijack Galbo950...

Yes, hoping Galbo doesn't mind ....

Am running the Performance Exhaust Signature slip-ons as supplied - with standard baffles.
The quiet baffles are about $130 U.S. which I guess would equate to something like $240 Aussie to my door.
( not so quick / easy to buy Freedom stuff onshore )

    The 'noise' ...
EXACTLY what I wanted. Surprisingly quiet when cruising, with that background 'throaty purr' and a good deep rumble when I want / applying the throttle.
More loud throughout than SEs especially when 'cracking it'.
    Not as loud as S&S / V&H.
    My neighbours seem happy !

And, as mentioned ... The Freedom pipes resemble stock mufflers more than anything else I've come across, even the SEs with their 'revolver chamber' black tips ( on chrome )

It's all good. What are the Freedom pipes worth?

Thru eBay and with the lousy Aussie $ AND shipping ...
Ended up being $50 more than if I waited "AT LEAST" 5 months for sole Australian distributor to be resupplied !

    ..... $620 AU

Cheers Speedy and Galbo. I rather dig their look, for a 2-2 setup. Nice.

Wel I found myself a Fatbob exhaust already fitted with a set of SE slip ons.  The headers are from an import so had no cat, no active exhaust valve and 18mm sensor sockets. Fittment was straight forward, just had to grind the lug off the mounting bracket to fit. Will have o adjust the bend in the brake connector / push rod as it touches the front header. It's quiet but that's what I was after. I think it looks better then the old V&H 2-1 I had. So anyone after a 2nd hand V&H?
