Hi from bloodog any of you bitches having this problem

    2016 breakout 3 mounths old
I would say about every 20 starts, I have to charge battery or shes a no go
First time could not tell the battery was going down and went flat could not start
    Rang RAA
The dude could not start recons the bike had to much compression so went to yard for bigger battery came back tryed again and same excuse turning my ignishion over and over { fuck wit } left me on side of road reconds "sorry you need to by a new battery" and drove of
So I call harley road side assistance for pickup and of to the stellers me and the truck driver bike in back, they told me the decompresshion was not turned of on the computer and sent me home.
Afrer about 20 starts "yep" the battery still going flat and now have to charge every 20 or so starts most rides I do are around 200 ks
Rang the stellers back and now would like me to bring back as maybe battery needs replacing or I could buy a battery tender
I gess I will have to do the 1hr ride into have things cheacked out bit pissed off with the bull shit

    Thanks bloodog

That’s a real downer... haven’t had that problem on my Breakout... but when I had my Sporty some time ago I had battery problems and finally found that a lead from the ignition coil was loose... once it was firmly connected never had the problem again.

    very uncool man
if your battery is going flat and then it accepts a re-charge you would nearly think its not the battery itself but rather the BIKE is not charging the battery
fuck buying a battery tender if you ride regularly,
the cunts at the stealership should have more fucken sense than to give you an excuse for it, rather than diagnosing the bike then give you a legit reason for the prob
they seem to be getting really piss poor with after sales service and KNOWLEDGE OF TECHNICAL AND MECHANICAL PROBLEMS nowdays
many people I know have shit results from dealership workshops and worse still many also have a low expectation of their ability to identify and repair minor problems and charge you $140p/h on a goose chase to find a fault- tell you its fixed, only to have the fault present itself to you again often on the way home or days later
the stealership up here wont work on any HD that is over 10 yrs old (how fucked is that) probably cause the bike would be older than the mechanic
a bird i know took her 48 back for a first service and that arvo i was talking to her and she was complaining about the bike vibrating after having told them about it when dropping the 48 to them, it had a loose top engine mount bolt and they let her ride the bike out like this, so much for going over the whole bike as required by first service, mind you she had to pay for that service or lack of, i wont and never have taken by HD anywhere near the cunts

appoligies for the long winded reply and being of fuck-all help to you

good luck with it and be sure to let us all know what the diagnosis was, its helpful (or may be helpful)
    to know this stuff
cheers bloodog and again good luck champion

Run a multi meter over the terminals when its running will tell you if the battery is charging

Heres a bit of a guide that may help you self diagnose it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB7CFqVlhtI
But when you say it when flat and left you on the side of the road . Sureley he would have  tested that wich  then sounds like you could be having intermittent  auto decompression issues

Oh boy don't get me on the subject!!!! You can see my horror story, if you can call it that in the Softail part of this forum.

I have a Breakout, had it for about a year. Went on a three week trip to the US, came back, bike wouldnt' start. My shitty Corolla started up straight away.

Ever since then it struggles to start. I ended up buying a trickle charger which is a pain in the arse.

Harley dealer reckons my 25 kms a day five days a week is not even close to charging the battery so he reckons I have to hook it up to trickle charge when it's at home...........period

Had two sportsters and never had this issue, I know the Breakout has to do more work to fire up.

Had the Harley dealer test my battery twice and they can find no issues...........

fucking thing struggled to start again this morning!!!!

^^ Same as above ^^  08 Softail same battery from new.

If I was me, I would take the bike straight back to the dealer you bought it from and demand they FIX IT !. It is still under warranty for Fsake. If they can't fix it then demand they send it to a dealer who can. Any dealer should be able to do warranty work, don't reckon it has to be the miserable cunts you bought it off.

Wow Thanks HD forums for all the very good advice,

I have been through each comment a few times and you all sound like the dogfuckers I ride with. One such has only last weak talked me into buying a hydraulic bike lift "photo inclueded"
I have now been convinced to do as much work as I can on my bike my self and leave HD out of the mix.... I have been treated by gentelmen at HD and no doubt there professional service will do all they can to help me

With the bike not charging my battery, as long as I have HD warranty They can fix it, but first I will  Run a multi meter over the terminals when its running { thanks paulybronco, loopie, FLIPDOG bodge Independant_84   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB7CFqVlhtI  I will read this thanks
Motherfucker one of my riding buddys told me during a sesh he picked his ride up from its first service and the belt was so tight he had to back it of { he thinks this would help wear out the seals for further return servicing } that was 7 years ago has not been back since and dose all work on his bike him self AMEN TO THAT
I ride with a strong group and we help each other through issues Thanks for your comments again and will keep you mob upto date with how things turn out

    Ride safe bitches   bloodog

Since you are so polite eg dogfucker, mother fucker, bitch I will respond :-) . You may want to ask the dudes you bought the bike of if they turned of the auto decomps accidentally when they did the SEPST download. Might also be worth checking the wire is plugged all the way onto the top of the starter. Your bike lifter look a bit weeny for a big heavy bike, watch out it doesn't fall off.

To have the same prob HD have asked me to bring back in its just the fact I live 100 ks away
Been told when taking of tyres to tie bike down Thanks for the heads up
Yes I have been told before I have a foul mouth and it seems my fingers are no better

Just a thought, Take your battery to world, They do a free battery test, In the Brisbane area anyway, so I presume all of them do. Or find someone who does a free battery test in your area. Take the battery in without starting your bike that day. Thats so the battery can be tested in same conditions battery is in before first start in the morning. Be interesting to compare there test as to the dealers test. If battery world test shows your battery as a fail. Get them to give you something on paper to verify this. Gives you a bit of ammo if dealer wont budge on repairing your bike.

Even if is works out that the battery itself is not the actual fault thats causing  your bike not to start, Your battery life is going to be significantly shortened on cranking if this fault persists.

Ok Just rode to mccardel motors here in my town as I know the mechanice there
So we tested the battery before starting 343 crank amps this is were it should be
Then volatage is sitting around 13s we started the bike and went up to 14s this is were it should be
    I have charged the battery for 24 hrs about 5 starts ago maybe 10 days {not riding over Christmas break}
HD have asked me to bring the bike back when I am in adelaide next for a 3rd look
Again most of my rides are 200 pluss ks every 10 starts
I realy would like to fix this with out the trip to HD

Very good piont mick44  makes here:

What do I think ?  spides666 posted this to me yesterday: Harley dealer reckons my 25 kms a day five days a week is not even close to charging the battery so he reckons I have to hook it up to trickle charge when it's at home...........period

HD the steelers are going to say to me you need to buy from us a trickle charge  "woop ey fucken do" Im a wood duck
This is such bullshit so every time I go into my shed to perv on my gorgeous horse I will be looking at my seat removed and leads

So rang HD and explained bike only just starting and am on my way to adelaide for a day out with the misses so asked
Shall I bring in my battery " yes they replyed we will replace with a new one " and explayned to me how to disable alarm on bike
Droped in to HD with battery and after just a few minutes of testing the battery I was told " the battery is fine and you will nead to bring bike in
to have us cheack things out"
The sales men and mechanics are very nice frendley gentilmen
This will now be my 5th visit to HD with this problem and still unsolved

Thank you for the compliment Bloodog.

Let us know how you get on with the battery issue.

I had to have my crankcases split under warranty due to an oil leak. It was a 14 hour job! The warranty is there for a reason cobber, make the most of it.
