my son has just signed up for the breakout, i was speaking to another breakout owner who swapped over the fork spacers for a set 2" longer which he said barely changed the ride height but allowered the thing to lean over much better on low speed stuff like round a bouts......Any thoughts on this one ?

coyoty/Hilly can you elaborate on the spacers? Do you mean spring preload spacers? Something you could maybe turn up on a lathe? Im fast running out of pegs/brake pedal etc on my 2013 for this very reason

    Cheers fellas

coyoty/squaled, about 12mths ago I was chatin' to a breakout owner at a local stealership who had put the W/G tubes on raising the front 2" as mentioned, apparently it is a common method used on the breakout in New Zealand as they have many winding roads.
He said whilst it did increase the lean angle of the bike it changed the dynamics making it feel like he was constantly riding with a pillion on the back, took some getting used to he said, so naturally I imagine this would be further exaggerated if you were to have a pillion with you
squaled, yes mate they were talking pre-load spacers, you could buy some from a bike shop and cut them to desired length, they aren't expensive they're only a couple of plastic tubes like thick conduit
hope the input I got from ol'mate about the tubes is helpful to you and something to take into consideration I guess
    cheers

See where youre coming from Flip, cheers for the input, I can imagine changing to the 2" over WG tubes would slow the steering down a bit by raising the front end - hence the pillion eference. Personally I wouldnt go for the tubes, just the spacers - If Im thinking right the spacers wouldnt alter the ride hight much (As post above) but just prevent the front end diving so much on braking (sort of, I know this is more a compression damping thing). BUT - haa, If it goes to the shithouse then no problems to take them out, play with different lengths or whatever...Ill give it a go I think..

Hi, well as per the above posts I did get to make a set of longer fork spring spacers for my 13 BO. The originals were 200mm long so I cut some at 250mm to give the extra 50mm (2 in)

only issue is that I cant seem to get them compressed enough to refit the fork cap. I had the bike off the ground, forks fully extended....

Can anyone shed some light here whos done this or am I missing something....Or am I just stupid ha!
