Is there an easy way to drain the gearbox oil on a 2015 fatboy without getting oil everywhere, the drain plug seems to be above the shock abosorbers?

If you undo one shock, does it expand with the pressure inside, making it hard to collapse for refitting?

i do it while da bike is upwright on a stand or use a jack

Stand bike straight up using bike lift, sissor jack or wheel lock and removed drain plug.
Removing the filler cap helps it flow.
Never had to remove shock and never had a mess.
I think if it was on the stand it may run over the shock.
