    G'day All,

I'm chasing advice on how best to setup my Night Train handlebars. Originally I had the stock setup however being 5ft10 meant I was too short an had a sore back. I now have taller risers, 8 1/2 inch with a kink backward for the last 1 1/2 inch with the standard bar, cables etc. I have done some damage to the discs in my neck and am trying to sit further back and upright, does anyone have an recommendations?

    so far I have considered:

Same bar, 9 1/2 inch risers and new cables (not sure if it will rearward enough),

09 softail heritage bars and new cables, 2 inch vertical risers,

09 softail heritage bars and new cables, 2 inch pullback risers.

Can anyone see any drastic problems or better ways of doing things?

I want the handlebars to follow the line of the forks, not tilt forward or rearward.

    Any advice would be great,

    Cheers

    Ryno

P.S This is the currant setup, I'm also lowering the rear an inch or so, does this change the feel of the amount you reach much?

I fitted 8 inch rise with 3 inch pull back on my night train and am about 5ft 8 and no problems with back or arm ache, even riding 500 to 600 klms, used standard cables

I am 5'8", I just done 6500K's on my 04 Nightrain with the standard risers, no issues, I did learn early not to get lazy and slump in the seat and stay straight.

I think the stretched out ride is great, I also have no issue with my back

Have found you need to spend money if you want better bars that are more comfy and just better allround love Aussie made Burleigh bars thay cost but worth every cent
In my opinion With t bars I've found 8 up Are the best for my height 5.11 the Burleigh have more pull back than a lot of the Harley and China made ones
I have t bar rollers on the softail I'm building , 8 inch westerns integrated riser on my red softail I built and had 8 t bar on my softail that was smashed so much more comfy not stretching out like the China ones I did have on which are now sitting in my rack of spares

I'm leaving towards mini apes but I'm not after really big tall apes. I think the heritages bars are a good height, just not sure if they are back far enough. I guess ill have to head to a shop to try some bars out.

Ryno, if you're chasing set up, it may pay to have a look at your seat height too. I'm 5'10" and have Burleigh Rolla bars on my FB. They are 8" rise and sit a bit below shoulder height with the seat set up I have. I find this pretty comfy on longer rides. Strangely enough I have 2 compressed discs ( c4-5) in my neck as well. After changing seat and bars I have no neck soreness after riding. I changed from original bars due to hand position. Some pics in my profile.
    Cheers. Bucky

G'day Ryno, I recently swapped my bars out for Wild1 12 1/2"mini apes, 1 1/4" dia. great quality and a piece of piss to internally wire. I had considered ordering direct from Wild1 in the states or using M&M but ended up going thru Rollies in Brisbane - very happy with the outcome, great guys to deal with, great advice and very competitive prices.
I did have a set of Venture 1" mid westerns with 4 1/2" pullback risers on my 94 Fatty and felt I still had to lean forward too much - I'm about 5'8", I was at the max reach for cables and brake lines and there bars had seen better days, so bit the bullet and bought new shiny stuff. The bars are very comfortable and I actually feel like I have better control of the bike, possibly due to the bars being a slightly bigger dia.
I followed the advice of a lot of guys here and sat on the bike holding a broom handle horizontally and placing my hands at the most comfortable width and height to try and decide on the correct height of rise for me. Tossed up between curved T bars and the mini apes for ages before taking the plunge.

    cheers

So I went down to a dealership today and sat on a 2016 heritage. It felt comfortable and I could easily reach the bars. does anyone know if the seat position is the same as a 08 Night Train? Also are there any aftermarket bars that have the same pullback height bend and width as the heritage?

Khomeini weeks make a bar called a sweeper and some variations of the sweeper. Similar to the heritage bars but a little more pullback. They're a bit like mini-med apes with a curling sweep to provide more pullback. So really good for pullback and flexibility in moving between the clamps to get the right feel without upsetting the looks between the fork angle and handlebars. Their Web sites has all measurements too and they're very reasonably priced. Inly come in one inch thickness. I bought sweeper 2+2 bars for my bike
