Primary Gasket refit

I am changing my clutch spring tomorrow and wanted to get the guff on what to use for gasket sealant on the primary.

Do you use any, a light smudge of primary oil or proper gasket sealant?

Days gone by I remember the old brush inside a bottle with sticky black shit that you spread all over the shop. When you look at the cases on my bike it has a grey rubber compound that has squeezed out where the joins are.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers.

Yep had primary's of planty of times and only every had to replace the gasket Once on my bikes normally
Just a wipe down and back on if it tears a bit i just put on what you said permatex aviation goop on a stick brush
That's one of the best sealants to use easy to clean up thinners on a rag. But yes sometimes you tend to spread it
Around if you have to much on the stick it's bit like paint If you use make sure you do the lid up that's the most. Cause
Of spilling it ,always seems to get knocked over lol

I use a bit of sealant on the original gasket, only had the cover off twice but no leaks from it yet
