Finally got away for my first decent ride on the Street Glide last weekend.
Not a major trip by any standard, just a run up to Bowral for lunch to celebrate my wifes birthday. We had been holding off until we got the backrest fitted.
Headed up the Hume Hwy for a distance of 350km return trip.
first impressions are that this bike is awesome and really lives up to the "Glide" part of the name, very smooth to ride and my wife is very happy with the backrest as she has RSI in her arm and found it painfull to hold on, the rest now gives her more confidence and makes her feel more relaxed to enjoy the ride.
I found that the sweet spot is around 120kph in 6th, it just hums along with the pipes singing happily behind us, had to be a bit wary with the throttle as a quick blip on the throttle so it jump to 140 / 150 kph very quickly.
After a great lunch at the Briars it was back down the Hwy and back to the farm, all in all a great day out.
Full consumption wise I got a return of 18.8 km/litre. I reckon I'd get more on a longer trip but considering the size of the motor and other goodies added to it I thought it was a quite good return.
Cheers
That sounds great. I like that sweet spot in 6th gear, too.
We have our seasons and I wish you the best in yours. Ours, up here in Minnesota, is below freezing; Uufda! Won't twist a throttle until spring.
Enjoy
