went to my local tyre service yesterday to get tyre presure checked. He suggested i start using nitrogen in tyers to prevent presure loss and keeps tyres cooler. Are any of you blokes doing this and what were the results?

Not worth the bother unless you really, really hate checking your tyre pressure.

My brother inlaw keeps telling me it is great and I should do it, I just dont see the point, I dont have to put air in my tires that often, yes I do check prior to runs or 3 months

It's a load of BS , a tyre place conned my wife into this in our 4wd years ago whilst getting a tyre fixed , didn't last long ,  still had to fill with nitrogen too often, Air is free , just check your tyres regularly and keep your coin for mods .

I got mine done with Nitrogen for free with the first service -- I would never have paid for it in the first instance.

Four hundred km's in and I swear that my FXDF's rubber feels like it performs better, which is saying a bit for the Dunlops which I will happily wear down before throwing some Michelin's on. The difference feels like the rubber is doing more of what it should. Coming in from large sports bikes where quality rubber at the right pressure means a lot, I reckon that I'm familiar with this shit. I also appreciate not needing to worry about tyre pressures, noting how painful HD's valves can be to access.

So yeah, I like it, and yeah it may be all in my mind but if you can wrangle a free set up give it a crack I say. Mine feels better for it.

What happened to original H-D air. To maintain warranty you must only use H-D air from an authorised H-D dealership!

I think the whole thing has been blown up into an over inflated issue

This thread is gaining traction Soapy, I'm sure we can get a few more miles out of it yet. We can't let it run flat just yet!

Getting a bit tyred of the whole thing really :) But seriously, air is roughly 79% nitrogen anyway. Keep your tyres at the correct inflation pressure with good old aussie air which you can still get at most servos.

What a cracker thread ! I might start a new one. How often do you change your Nitrogen ??

    These are classics:
    Blown up
    Inflated issue
    Run Flat
    Gaining Traction
Getting Tyred of the whole thing

Here are the facts,, Nitrogen alows your tyres to stay at a consent COOLER temperature and saves on Tyre wear, If you have Nitrogen in your Tyres you must always top them up with Nitrogen,

All Air Craft run Nitrogen in there Tyres and Racing Cars to keep the temps cooler and to save on wear. There is no Wank about it, It is just a hassle to maintan
