Motorycycle transport from SA to QLD

I sold my old bike to my wife's stepfather a few weeks back, a Hyosugn GV250,  he lives up in far north QLD Whitsuday area and was planing to move down to SA to take the bike but their move has been delayed because they're selling a business up there and cannot move until they sell.  Does anyone know of a cost effective method of transporting the bike from SA to far north QLD.  It would have to cost around $300 at most to be feasable because shortly thereafter he has to bring it back to SA and riding it is not really an option.  Has anyone had any experience with this stuff?

My thoughts are it's probably best to leave it in my garage till they get here, what do others think?

yep 1 big head acke lol, when i sold my train to a guy in syd it was easier for him to drive down here to adel n pick it up, they all wanted it boxt up , melboure/adelaide is no problem as some1 does it weekly with bikes, if there near coffs or  vis versa i might be able to help, adel-coffs early next mth and the mth after , should be able to squis it on , will have 2 hds on the trailer but a little bike may fit in the guts

Keep it with you....at least that way you know it will be in good condition when he gets it.  Always hard when you sell to family.

Yeah, that's the other thing packaging it is a hassle and even then you don't know what's going to happen to it once it hits the road. Had a friend that transported his moto guzzi and they managed to drop it between points. I rekon I will keep it in the garage, they hope to be down by christmas so I suppose it's not too far away.

Car carrying trucks sometime have a spot for a bike behind the cab. Pretty reasonable rates but it is out in the elements. I had my bonnie moved from NQ to the Pilbara that way. It took about 5 hours of detailing to get the road grime off and it got knocked around a bit. It was about 5000km trip I think. On my way back to NQ a few years later I got it crated up and moved by a bike moving company. Cost a heap more but the bike was extremely well looked after.

I think considering that this is only a 5k bike I don't think it's worth doing, I've been quoted $1100 to do the move one way, for that money I'd be better off selling it and him buying a new one up where he lives. They only cost $6500 new. I think best option is to store it and wait till they come down here.
