Hey guys
Have just replaced stock air cleaner on 07 EFI road king with a high flow air cleaner. Of course the new one doesnt come with active air intake flapper. Have just unplugged it and tucked it away and am riding with Check Engine light on. I remember hearing of a mob that sells a plug in device that tricks the tuner into thinking the flapper is there. Does anyone remember who sells this thing?.
Also at the risk of starting a tuner debate the bike also has S&S wide Oval slipons and Knight rider VIED's set at 75%. Basically a pseudo Stage 1 minus the tuner. The bike runs so much better since installing the VIED's and runs better again with the new high flow filter at low to mid throttle where I spend 95% of my time. No hesitation, reduced heat, no ping, throttle response very improved. Anyway since adding the new filter this week I noticed today at Wide Open Throttle it felt like it ran out of fuel for a second. I'm pretty sure the ECM comes out of Closed Loop into Open Loop ignoring the O2 sensors once Wide Open throttle is hit. Basically allows the Fuel Injection to dump as much fuel as it needs. Could this run out of fuel condition at WOT condition be because there is no signal from the Intake Flapper which also opens at WOT ? My first thought is to get the adaptor for the flapper and see what happens. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Big Joe's Choppers in Newcastle sell the eliminators also.
I was on another thread about scavengers and a couple dudes said make one. Its cheap and easy. I probably will before my next oil change. Anyway it got me thinking; what is the Active Intake Eliminator made from? If its just tricking the ECM into thinking the flapper is still there it must just detect a resistance signal. Got my OHM metre out and measured across the flapper motor and it measured 18 OHMs. Went to JayCar this afternoon and bought an 18 OHM Resistor and installed it. Fired up the bike and no more check engine light. Hopefully it will last. Cost me $.50 cents, a bit of heat shrink, a couple zip ties I had laying around and about 45 minutes. If it is all good and keeps working and Ill let you know if it doesnt, it Saved me 60 Bucks on the eliminator. Couple pics below.

Active intake Flapper eh? Forget the bike...Wish my missus had one.
