just had a new Norton 961 Commando here for a week to ride & test out for a shop , then got to test ride da new Dominator with mono shock rear suspension near fell off it out front of da shop , very racing stance racing seat was too high for my short legs nearly crashed a 45,000 new motorbike , my heart nearly into my mouth
A mate Just bought a new Triumph, got me to go up dealer with him. i saw the new Thruxton's in showroom, they look good! they told me hard to get test rides as they are selling well. personally i don't like bar end mirrors or clip on's but these bike look good nice build quality & Triumph seem to have a good design team. ( must be showing my age )
I have an '01 Bonnie - one of the first "New Bonnies" - with over 100,000km on it and Ican attest to it's reliability. At about 95,000km I put in a wiseco kit, carb's & cam grind and internal inspection showed no wear of any significance.
Add 15 years of technology and I would reckon reliability and maintenance won't be an issue. I have seen the smaller street twin and the finish on it is very good. Given that is the entry level model, the t120 and thruxton range should be pretty impressive. I woudl definitely have one, money permitting.
For all you old farts that need a cruiser, look out or the "Bobber". Not my cup tea, but Triumph again doing things their own way. Mad dogs and Englishmen . . . .

yOur getting a goodinnings out of that filthy. Never hear bad things about the newer triumphs
I would really like to take one of the new Thruxtons or Bonnevilles for a test ride.
Wifey use to have a Meriden Bonny (older type), what a heap of badly made shit! Strangely enough though, a good mate rides a thunderbird from the 60's and rides the fucken arse off it. Will beat any modern upstart through the twisties......of course long straights are the downfall.
Missus now has a more modern one (2007). Reliable, goes better, stops better. A bit gutless(but better than the Meriden ones) but still fun.
The newer ones seem to have quite respectable torque (in fact more than standard off the shelf Harleys). Plus twin disc brakes etc.
Won't be poohing in my hands and clapping before a test ride.
Neither would I be selling my HD to get one.
Nothing wrong with being a bike slut though.
Saw one up at the Gloucester Bike Expo,
Like a Bonneville/Thruxton on roids, actually really like it but at almost $21,000 ride away they are not giving them away.
Not too bad (price wise) when you compare the Thruxton to the new Norton.
A saw the new Lowrider while there and would buy one tomorrow if I had the dough
I would rather one of these

Pauly & all you reliability worry boys,
I started riding Big Twin Harley's back in late 70's. All the guy's that talk like you road Jap bikes, they put shit on Harley's when I got my first new Harley I expected it to break down on ride home from the dealer AMF Shovel , well I road it 1 million K & a mate now owns and rides, he rides with brand new Harley's and it matchs them in economy on interstate runs last run was around tassie a month back. It also out performs out handles the new Harley's it does the standing quarter in 11.7 consistent
& the motor is smaller still uses HD factory heads same ones it had from new.
Yes mate road all the time do you want me to tell you how manny top en rebuilds you do before a bottom end rebuild is needed. Because when that happens your twin my has a throw away bottom end. I found that out myself. I love riding love all bikes
Geoff most people do that, i just improved my motoor & gear box & electrics it runs crane roller rockers velva touch hydralic lifters LA Cycles did heads & all bottom end rebuilds. Baker pricision dynamicaly balanced the motor to 52% balance factor
New owner got LA Cycle to put late model 6 speed late starter it is 3 " open belt has speial order andrews cam
Every two top end rebuilds it then needed new bottom end roller bearings
Every time i drag raced had to pull gear box apart as not a strong gear box old four speed
Thats 1 million by me now new owner for 5 year.
Hey road a 6 speed sport glide canada to mex n back last year said faster 5th gear than 6th gear flat out could only do 180k canada kph speedo i think he likes riding the shovel better but that is hand built not mass production
