    PRE-CHRISTMAS SALE

Dyna and Softail riders have long been neglected by Harley-Davidson with no factory cruise control available for their bikes.  In 2016 the factory will remedy that with the new fly-by-wire bike release and cruise control built in, or optional - I am not sure which - maybe you know?

In any case, you may not be aware that the factory cruise control lever exists on the throttle body on both Dynas and Softails from around 2005 to the present.  MCCruise has used this fact to tailor a sophisticated, brilliantly-performing cruise control for your bikes. It was installed by Adelaide Bike Works and reviewed by Heavy Duty Magazine last year.  Many have since been sold around the country and overseas.  The product is still a 'sleeper' however, with few people knowing about it.  Our invitation by Heavy Duty to release it at the Harley-Davidson Rally in Tamworth in 2016 was met with firm rejection by Harley-Davidson Australia.  We were boycotted! Despite fulfilling all their requirements. Don't like competition I guess - even when they can't supply a product to satisfy their customers!

    DYNA MCCruise switch:

Still...that is what competition is about.  If you have a good product and people need it - you keep pushing.  MCCruise is undertaking a pre-Christmas sale especially for Forum members to help get the word out, but there are only 100 units up for grabs - so get in quick!

Funny ....that comment reflects what I used to think too! smiley Why ride a bike if you aren't going to 'ride' it?

My opinion changed when I had an accident in 1991 and couldn't ride more than 10 minutes without my fingers going numb. Tried throttle locks through the early nineties and they drove me nuts.  Didn't hold speed worth a damn.  In 1996 I put a Kmart auto cruise on my Nissan Pintara TRX and went to Queensland and back for a holiday ......didn't get booked three times that I know about and God knows how many times I didn't and got 13.8km/litre instead of 10K/L.

So....... when we got back, I said to my brother ...... ‘I need one of these on my '94 VFR750!’  That's how it all started.  We installed one reasonably quickly and I rode around for three months and it wasn't bad - way better than a throttle lock!

But I was out doing a performance course at Phillip Island in November '96 and the throttle jammed at 235kph into turn one.....THAT got a bit interesting!  I found I was able to go a LOT faster through that turn 'with a dead engine' than I had done previously with the engine on!

So we went back to the drawing board.  Lying in bed in Lorne at 7:30am on Australia Day 1997, I had a brain-wave and rang Frank who was on his way to Lakes Entrance for a holiday.  I described an idea I had for what is now called a 'Cable Interface Unit' which he said could work.  He is a mechanical draughtsman and electronics guru, so we borrowed $5K from Dad and started the business now we had a safe way to interface to the throttel on bikes. Eighteen years later we are still here, export all over the world and now design, develop, manufacture and sell the world's ONLY model-specific, after-market electronic cruise control for motorcycles.

Some more of the story is here.

I suggest you email us for the instructions.  That way you know what you are getting for your money, know whether you can fit it yourself, or need help and can then establish contact with US - the designers, developers, manufactures and distributors.  Whoever you talk to, will know what they are talking about. Every kit is custom built to order.

If you ever need help, you call us.  Overseas customers email us - and WE call THEM.  VOIP is amazing!  Costs me less to call the USA than the next suburb here in Melbourne!

Our software is now so sophisticated that in about 5 minutes on the phone, with an absolute laymen on the other end with the bike, we can usually tell them what is wrong and how to fix it - IF they have a problem.  Basically the computer STOP CODES ensure it tells us why it won't engage - or why it last disengaged.

With Skype Translator - we now support customers in eight different languages!  Our world is transforming right before our eyes.

Cable Interface Unit photos - only required on Sportsters, V-Rods and Harleys without the factory cruise control lever.

I thought it might be useful to show what the CIU looks like and where it is typically mounted for those of you who have bikes without the HD factory cruise control lever, in case any of you were interested in this discussion and how it might be applied on your bikes.

Here is an MCCruise on an 883 Sportster we developed late last year:

The left arrow points to the crusie computer module.                                       The right arrow shows the cable interface unit (CIU).

Tony, Frank & the staff at MC Cruise,

I would like to give you all some feedback as to how the operation of the cruise control you fitted to the Harley Davidson Sportster XL883L Super Low:
After I picked up the bike from Mt. Waverley, I rode the bike to Wodonga (approx 350km’s) north along the Hume Hwy.   I used the cruise control the whole way.
I really put it through its paces to test it out; up & down hills, increasing & decreasing speed by using the buttons.   The Cruise operated perfectly in every situation; it held its speed within 1 kilometre with incredible precision.
As an Auto Electrician with some 30 years experience in fitting all kinds of electrical accessories to vehicles of all makes & models, I have found some accessory kits are very poor in quality or look very tacky when added to some vehicles.    Your fitting quality of the kits is very professional:  the laser cut brackets that are tailor made to fit each individual bike & model are superb.   The speed sensor on the front wheel, blend in so good that I had to look hard to see it. The laser cut brackets are of high quality they actually appear to be part of the bike.
The second kit I purchased from you was for the Yamaha FJR in which I fitted myself. Your fitting instructions are incredibly in depth, thorough & precise. They are easily followed; nothing was omitted or taken for granted for the fitter.    I believe anyone could fit one of these Cruise controls if they had your instructions.    That being said, I wish you all the best for the future as it was obvious to see that you have put an incredible amount of work & research into perfecting these Cruise Control systems & it has certainly paid off with the way they appear & operate.

    Regards,
Garry - Wodonga Victoria Australia 4 April 2015

Hi there, I've just come across this thread & had a look behind the AC on my 06 Softail. It does have the pictured factory cruise control lever fitted. Just wondering how much for a kit to suit my bike? Cheers.

    Hi ,

We have a Softail kit being installed on an ’05 HD today at SunCity HD in QLD. I would like to get feedback on whether there are any issues before I commit to saying I can supply you a kit. We also have to write early model Softail instructions. They are basically the same as the Dyna - which I will send by email if you write to me at sales@mccruise.com, but the ECU is in a different position.

    OK?

    Best regards,

I find it terribly frustrating that my bike (2016 FLSS) and cars have cruise that will not engage at 40 km/hr. I use cruise a fair bit when I don't want to pay attention to the speedo, and school zones are often a place where you just need to chug through. There's often a ton of stuff going on around you and your speedo is the last thing you should have to pay attention to. I'd rather set and get ready to respond to the unexpected til the zone ends.

Your system works at 40? do you have any plug ins to make my factory system work at 40? Cos it kinda pisses me off that it is one situation that I can't do the whole "set and forget".

    Hi,

Our MCCruise can engage down to 30kph (22MPH) and I run mine as low as 10MPH. We specialize in low speed cruise control for our ATV QuadCruise for agricultural spraying and other slow speed applications like minerals exploration. Check us out at www.mccruise.com We have over 150 model-specific kits for motorcycles and the same for ATVs. We also make speed limiters for ATVs.

Hi am considering purchasing a HD. But am a bit concerned as having read this article http://www.jamesrussellpublishing.biz/beforeyoubuyharley.html (Please Read) it is reference to the problematic cam rollers and other items. is there a modification for this, is this factual. What would the cost be to modify and it is a major problem why hasn't HD USA sorted it.

    Any assistance greatly appreciated
