Travelled up for the Sydney Motorcycle Show today. Glad I went, a really good vibe in the main convention area with most bike brands represented. Plenty of other things too. The HD effort was probably the biggest, as you'd expect.
Of note was the new Ducati X-Diavel. Can't say she has grown on me at all now I've seen it in the flesh, but you get a hell of a lot of bike for circa $28g plus.
Interesting too -- this was the first time I've really checked out the Indian and Victory range. Without wanting to slag the brands I was surprised how much plastic was on the Victory's, and how the Indian's are a completely different style and feel of cruiser to Harley's. I was really thinking that I'd be more impressed, perhaps a few test rides would tell a different story, but put them all side by side and I really thought that the HD easily holds its head up high in competition with the others (based on looks, etc).
Each to his/her own, I suppose.
No mate. The pic of me on a nice Street Glide Special doesn't need to be inflicted on the forum. Me and the Indian Scout will be burned.
For the record, after sitting on 30+ bikes, the HD Street Glide and Aprilia Tuono were easily the best of show, in my opinion. Saying that, a massive positive of the show was all the bikes parking right outside the venue -- walking along the lines of bikes was enlightening with all styles, breeds represented. Bit like the Phillip Island MotoGP when everyman and his dog went. The whole show had that feel about it.
