Have just taken delivery of my new FB, but am already planning on which pipes I should get into ...

I test rode a FB with a set of SEs and am now probably wanting something with a a deeper 'note'.

Someone said, that the S & S slip-ons are somewhere between the SEs and Vance & Hines ( re: noise and keeping within the law )

Does anyone have first hand experience to guide me to a decision ?

    Thanks mate ...

    Am tied in with Frasers.

Not sure if they will do something 'up and above' Harley stuff.

at one point I had SE dual shortys on my softy, a bit quite yes, so I knocked the baffles out and removed the wool/muffler packing and re-installed the baffles= much better, actually sounded like a Harley then, in between the SE's and the S&S, not a bad note actually, you could feel the rumble when cruising but really hear it when you roll it on
want it a touch louder then pull em out again and drill another hole at the ends of each row

I fitted some V&H3" slip on , onto the FB when I first got it. Nice sound and flows well. If that's what your after.
    Basic upgrade.
Still have the mufflers as only used them for a very short time, before fitting a full system to match the Stg4.

V&H 3" are a straight through louvre style baffled muffler.
    Well worth the go !!

    Good luck with your choice.

One of the key things with a Fat Bob is to go into the header pipe where it is joined and remove the catalytic converter. A mate did that and put Rush slip-ons on his, they look the same as the standard mufflers and it sounds nice and deep. He was running inch and three quarter baffles but recently changed to two inch and it's pretty loud now as well. I think you'd find even the SE ones would be OK if you took out the cat from the header pipe.

After a LOT of talking to other riders / trawling the net, I've put an order in for some Freedom Signature 3.25" slip ons.

Will be hard in waiting ....

    freedom are nice pipes
thanks for letting us know the outcome
a lot of people roll in, ask for tips and advice and don't show the courtesy you have done by letting those involved in the thread what the result was, they just fuck off never to be heard of again,
members who reply to threads such as yours do so because they are willing to help and are often keen to hear how things went seeing as though they took the time to participate and offer advice and or experiences with such a topic or product
good onya mate and let us know what you think of them when they are fitted to your machine (eg; performance, sound, looks and value) then YOU are contributing to the forum letting others know of YOUR experience and satisfaction of this product
    maybe some pics too ay
    cheers speedy

    Exactly !
Is the same that I agitate for, on other forums that I belong to.
    Cheers, FD.

As an aside and probably not wanting to start another thread for a relatively ( ? ) simple question ...
Should I wait until end of 'break-in period' ( another 600 Ks ) before putting new mufflers on ?

    Put new mufflers on whenever.

I have heard that s&s mufflers are either made or at least designed by khrome werks. Wouldn't surprise me if this is true as some of the designs appear to be identical (bar the logos).

    OK then ...
    Freedom Exhaust Signature 3 1/4" slip-ons installed.
Quick spin around the big block ...

    BLOODY AWESOME !

    Exactly what I was after.
    Quiet(ish) on the down low...
    Lovely rumble on the juice.

( was a little worried the neighbours would crack the shits; no need for any further angst )

Hard in waiting to take him / her on a decent run.

Will still try for a short vid, to assist other potential buyers.

    ( happily ) It continues ...

Bike sounds Fuckin fabulous with new slip-ons installed, except for serious 'popping' on decel.
Am guessing the bike is way out of tune and consequently, want to rectify A.S.A.P. with air / fuel upgrade.

However, bike is still 200 k short of break-in mark.

Question; will HD dealer service fella / gal, need to rev past recommended 3800 RPM ( breakin in rev limit ) to remap ?

Will leave it to those who know ...

Just curious, re: the need ( or otherwise ) to take revs past what has been mandated as acceptable, during break-in period to re-tune with HD Supertuner.
