Good clip H&H. Did Tassie a few years ago in February. Faaaarken awesome 2 weeks. Would have to be some of the best roads in Australia. Stayed in B&B's most of the way and found all the locals extra friendly and helpfull. Not to take away from the issues in the clip but we had no trouble with wildlife, gravel or trucks and the quality of the roads was fantastic. Back again soon I hope.
I reckon those sort of dangers can be found anywhere, in any state. The best thing about Tassie is the general lack of traffic. Especially on the west coast roads where you can ride through mile after mile of wilderness. Like you H&H I live there. The only problem is that you eventually run out of new roads to ride on. Forgotten how many times I've done the loop, however each time is a hoot. Sometimes to change things we go anti clockwise.
Having said that, there does seem to be quite a few visiting riders who come to grief. Bloke and his missus killed last year or early this year hitting one of those big round bales of hay that had just fallen off a truck. Also saw a the after affects of a real nasty prang last summer between Kingston and Huonville with a big group of Harley riders where one poor guy lost a leg. However that stuff can happen anywhere. Realistically I feel very safe riding here, just not at night..too many critters about.
Ulysses AGM in Launceston March 2016. Could be a couple of thousand visiting late Feb and March!!!
