Rake and Trail of my Fatty

    Hey Lads,

So some of you may know that I installed a Hawg Halters 4 degree rake it and it came with 2 inch overs, which are installed one the forks all good.  Now, I alway knew that as I played with the geometry it was giong to fuck with the handling - so all good.

I have since changed out the wheels with a 19 on the front and 18 on the back, which are close to the same rolling diameter, but not exactly the same.

On a recent ride a mate's bird took this photo of me riding, and I am thinking - looking at the bottom of the frame, I might be best to remove the 2 inch overs, which may bring the front down enough to put the rake and trail back close to acceptable.

    Thoughts?

The rule is every 3 deg you add 1" longer Tubes to keep the Bike at the standard hight

Thanks Walka. But given I have swapped out the wheels - would it be worth looking at removing the spacers?

Hey Mongrel, does the bike handle ok? leave it alone mate I reckon it looks great the way it is. IF anything I thought it looked a bit low in the rear, but that may be the rim/tyre combo throwing the old eyeballs calibration off.

    cheers

    Hi Doc,

It handles worse than it did stock - but that's to be expected. There is a slight wobble at 50k, but once you get past that it's fine. At 140 I can let go of the bars - so that's all good, but in the twisties it can be shit. I don't want it to handle like a sports bike, but was just wondering if it would have been better without the spacers.

I will get a better picture of the frame etc when it's upright.

The rear has been lowered using a HD lowering kit - hence the look.

What do you want?, looks or handling, you cannot have both. see how you go taking the spacers out, you can always put them back if its worse.
With my Fatboy I have left it at the stock height after trying it lowered and scraping the fuck out of everything around the mountains, it looked
    nice though.

I like the stance of the bike mate.
Leave it as it is unless the handleing is really bad.
Its not a Sporty or an FXR.

    Thanks lads.

Look - The handling is not massive bad, but it's certainly not comfortable in the curves - and I am not hating it. I just thought of removing the spacers only after I saw the pic my mates bird took.

If I get bored, I will take them off. If I do - I will let you guys know the outcome.

    Cheers
