    Hi all,

Looking to replace my stock rear shocks on my '14 Wide Glide. Dont want to lower it any more - just looking for a better ride quality.

Q: What size are the stock units - 12inch or ??

I am after a bit more " Suppleness" with out bottoming out and still maintaining good handling.

I have seen a number of people are using the " Progressive" brand - they seemed well priced - ride quality ?

With a budget in mind - what would you reconmend - I am more after compliant ride for those shitty country roads

    Any Avice is most welcome.......

I went with ricors, big improvement over stock for right price ( around $600 from memory).
I also went an extra 1/2 inch longer then stock to give me a tad more clearance

I had some Progressive brand shocks on my Evo convertible for a short time but didn't like them as they were a bit too soft, especially 2 up.

I'm not sure what particular model they were but can find out if you'd like.

Fitted these Progressive 430 1" lower shocks last week to my 2015 Dyna Low Rider.

Don't know if I like them as yet, feel a bit stiff,

maybe they will soften up after a couple of hundred K's

Wondering if anyone has given IKON 7610 a go, and how these might rate in the scheme of thing?
They are approx. $800 a pair, they have four position rebound adjustment, three position progressive spring.

Thinking they might be ok & better than stock Harley shocks?
    Thanks

I think IKON are a later version of KONI or something like that
I had them on my streetbob a few years back and they were pretty good.

I have had 7610 ikons for 4 years some 2 up riding and luggage seem to be good shockies as I said on previous post had 2 sets of 412 progressive 1 was replaced under warranty next set exceeded the 12 months so I got the ikons

    Thanks Lushy

I looked those up today and they seem like a good option & affordable. Some have suggested going with a little longer than standard, so was wondering what you went with?

    Appreciated Don

I have sold various lengths to folk. Depends on the look if you like that. If it was mine I would add 12mm to stock to get it to steer a little sharper. But I am not you. Stock length will lose you no travel and the dampen real nicely. If you call the Oz importer and tell him what sort of riding you do etc and your weight he will get the springs on them to suit. No extra cost normally.

My advise, dont worry about the look! WHO CARES, Why seek approval from other people, if you like it and it works then job done.

Well, I took the plunge and installed a set of Black Progressive 444,s - went for a 200k ride the other day and after about 4 stops to adjust the rear - impressed, worth the investment. They handle the rough country roads with ease and the rear end felt very " planted " when cornering hard under power.

Note: To install them you need to use a dremel tool and shave approx 2mm out of the top shock mount chrome cover - otherwise the foul of shock head where they mount. I ordered a new set and will stash away and modify the old one - may even have the powder coated.

So far so good - have not tried two up on the bike ( rarely ride two up anyway ) but I would suspect a simple turn of the adjuster will be suffice.

Will post up some pics when I finnish the cover mods......

PS thanks for all the advice - the forum is invaluble for the info and opinions - great source.....

Now with about 2000k on the Hagon Nitro shocks and very pleased. They make a big difference, just feels heaps better.

    If that helps anyone else

Mate, the seat in that picture is simply the standard Harley fitment, however I do also have the Harley Signature (touring) seat.

which for me (tall) works well and has the little backrest which I think is bloody great on a long ride

    regards

    Don
