Does a 2" bigger wheel have the same affect as 2" extended forks?

    Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to have this question answered.

I currently have 2" over legs on my Softail. I like the ride, and like the road clearance it gives. But I want to go a 23" front wheel from the standard 21". I don't want it to lift the bike up further in the front end, so if I go back to standard length fork legs to reduce the 2" then add the 23" wheel to gain the 2" back, will I get the same effect and ride?

    Thanks in advance

and a 23" front wheel is only 1" higher than a 21" at your axle anyway, do the math
you would have to put a fucken 25" wheel on the cunt to get it 2" higher off the road

id stay with the forks there champion

Flipdog is correct, a 2 inch larger wheel is only 1 inch more from the axle to the rim.
2 inch over forks dont give you a 2 inch lift either, it varies with the angle of the rake.

A 2 inch increase in rim size will only give a 1 inch rise in axle height as it in the middle of the wheel. Do a search on "wheel diameter calculator" and check the tyres that fit, then you will have a better idea, the tyre diameter needs to be considered as well. Heavier fork springs help a lot to keep your cornering clearance. Going around a corner develops centripetal or centrifugal forces and these combine with an already heavy bike and soft Harley standard springs to sag the suspension even more reducing the cornering clearance. The harder you push it on corners the more the suspension and tyres (front and back) will be compressed.

progressive fork springs will give the front a slight lift also, even more if you cut the spacers a little longer, the springs will stiffen the front end more as well so less damping when hitting road depressions in the corners for a far better handling capability
