Having a Jap bike history I finally had enough of the HD "one size fits all" philosophy. Saw the Oberon stuff on line but had to wait as apparently the brake lever is specific to the ABS models. Wasn't cheap but seems good quality and good fit. Braking and clutching so much easier now that I can adjust the levers right where I want them.
Clutch (edit: Brake!) photo next post. Can't seem to do two.
Ok nuts to this. I can't seem to upload pic of other side. Looks the same anyway. I recommend these levers if you're looking for modern, good-looking adjustables. Really improves the ride, IMO. Only two minor issues I've noticed. One is that the clutch lever has a bit of play up and down. I don't notice this at all while riding. Might try washers to take up the slack. Brake side perfect. Second issue is one that Oberon warns about in the instructions, and that is if you adjust the clutch lever too close to the bar you may lose the "start in gear" function. For me the perfect setting works and is a big improvement (closer to the bar) on stock. The fact that the levers are thinner than stock also seems to contribute to better feel.
My bike is a '14 model 72 ABS BTW.
Thanks Lowflying. Sympathise on the picture posting. Let me guess - using an iPad or iPhone? Picture posting on this site and ios devices never seems to work properly, at least not for me. On the levers, thanks for the info. I came off a Ducati where I had installed adjustable levers, and have done a bit of mucking around with the clutch adjustment and free play the get the clutch lever to where it works for me, but is still not perfect. Having girl's hands does not help. Do the they come in black as well as chrome? cheers, TC
Ya. Was using an IPad. I am confused because I was trying to upload clutch and brake photos. Couldn't seem to do it. Only did the clutch. Came back to the post and it had the brake photo on it! Edited my first post, came back later and now the clutch photo is on! Am I losing my mind or what? Probably...
Anyway, all the info you need is here:
And now I find I can't cut and paste to this forum! Using Windows now and Firefox. Oh well, go to:
oberon-performance.co.uk
From there you can navigate your way to HD levers. As I said earlier, ABS models are different so make sure you get the right brake levers. They do different finishes, colours, whatever you like it seems.
Thanks mate, will lookinto the levers. I share your frustration with ios and this site - been here for 5 years and it has never really worked properly. Cheers, TC
