Hi just a quick quistion on rust
I have just brought home my 2016 Breakout and live be the sea
My question is:   Although only having  her 7 days I have just coverd the entire bike with the exception of brakes, electrics, tyres
with INOX useing a new paint brush. I have done this with my motorcross bikes in the past but used CRC back then, have read INOZ is the go!!

Picked up my new bike from Bike Works, a mate rode in to escorted be back we left at 2.30 just recived a speeding infringment for $223.00
Time of infringment 2.38. I rode 8 minutes before busted fucking spewing

Mate, since I was a kid, I have sprayed WD-40 on all my bikes. I just blast pretty much everything and so far its worked well for me for 40+ years. (PS, I live on the beach also)

Lived opposite the ocean and always used WD40 and a rag. Works a treat. Dust does tend to stick to the treated surface though as it has a thin film of oil on it. Small price to pay.

Thanks for the replys appreciate the help
Gave the throttle a twist to day Yep some smoke
Would I be right to not wash my girl untill I get caught in some rain and could I go no like this for as long as I can just paint brush
and spray gentle wipe over. Rather than a bucket of soap and water I mean if I am 8 mounts or 1 year down the track and shes glisning brand new riden often but kept dry parked in a inclosed room, maybe there would be no nead for a tub ? fastidious I know but shes fucking gorgeous

    Thanks bloodog

That's the go with coastal living ( like 90%+ of the Australian population )

That seabreeze is your enemy Re corrosion

I just McGuiars wax the whole bike , bar the disc surfaces.

    I brought a 2008 CVO Springer from Texas , came from 500 miles inland ( 800 K's !). Had NEVER seen seabreeze

Sat it next to my 2008 Softail custom , bought new in Oz in 2007 , and all the "Aussie" boltheads /washers etc were dull

All the fasteners on the US import were still 100% shiny new , even with 6,300 miles ( 10,000 K's ) on the bike

When I was in .Las Vegas ARIZONA  in 2011 , all the used bikes in the dealers showrooms were super clean like that.

That's even further inland and well higher than sea level.

Way to go Retroman  "thus always to tyrants". so rust is inevitable

    This avenue for researching how to tackle my bikes future is unreal { thanks harley forums }
I have never spoilt my self with a new Hog before and may never again, for this reason and becouse I love bikes all of them, I'm keeping this bike in its show room condition and dont give a flying fuck if I sound like a nose picking library nurd . We were riding into what looked like rain clouds yesterday and I actuley pulled over I was with a mate on his emaculiantley kept  2015 Indan Chef he said nothing except hand gestured some thing to me about me being a wanker with his fist in an up and down movement, so I continued on.
McGuiars wax the whole bike ! will now go looking what thas all about.   Thanks again for the heads up Retroman

Hey Blooddog, i live across road from ocean love it!!

best way to stop rust is always keep bike coverdd with a cotton sheet, as absorbs moisture  & as you have what looks like low restriction exhast system always put a cotton rag up the end of each pipe as normally when you shut motor down there will be a valve open so moisture will get into motor the bore is bare metal with some oil there but i've always done that had first HD in late 70's. never had rust n the old ones had cast iron barrels so more chance or rust.

NSW got rid of a lot of cash cow speed camera's as they did not stop road toll, think they need to book people with there hands on mobile phones then they will see less accidents!!!! enjoy your new ride!

Retroman , never wash my bikes that much unless it rains, but as i said i cover them in cotton sheets i think i've got about ten cotton sheets over it, no rust. we always joked the guys with rusty wheel bearings washed there bikes too much. as for USA first time i saw salt on roads, i was in a cafe having breakfast in Carolina , & a car from Canada was coveredd in what looked to me like clay, like it had driven a long way in rain on a clay road. i mentioned to owner they said no was salt they went though a blizzard roads had salt on them. never seen that here but saw snow in Louisiana near TX boarder, love TX!!! same size as NSW same types of country as you find in NSW too. enjoy your riding do more riding less washing! use warterless wash. cheers

I had a mustang in the states and it had salt a over it for 6 weeks, plenty of snow.

Wash my bike on a semi regular timing, spokes look a bit rough but the rest is OK rust wise
