D&D Bobcat exhaust bracket failure

Hi all, I have the D&D Bobcat exhaust on my 2013 Streetbob and on a ride the other day noticed the muffler was almost about to fall off. When i got home and had a better look i noticed the ring bracket holding the muffler had broken at one of the factory welds. I assume this has been like this for a while and the muffler has slowly worked it's way loose until it slipped right back. I've had the bracket re-welded and am going to put it back on, but pretty sure it's going to give way again  as the bracket is bolted to the frame with no movement and assume with the vibration through the exhaust that the stress will fracture it again.

Has anyone else with this exhaust had the same problem and if so how did they fix it? i was thinking of putting a bit of rubber between the bracket and bike frame to see if that allows for a bit of movement. Any feedback is appreciated.

Make sure the other bracket is fitted , the one holding the headers ( under cam cover).
Mine broke on my fatcat and was because didnt have header bracket on and was too much weight under vibration on the back bracket

On my dyna (and I thought it would be the same on a softy) the exhaust bracket bolts to the gearbox not the frame.
This way is fine as the gearbox (obviously) moves with the motor so pipe, engine and gearbox all move as one.
I'll keep an eye on it though...

Checked the header pipes Chriso and there is no bracket there so maybe that is the problem. Would you be able to post a photo of the bracket so I can see where it attaches to.

Yes your right Daggs the bracket does fix to the gear box, my mistake, didn't look close enough.

I was thinking about using the stock header mounting plate, make up some clamp for it, but when I fitted the system was very happy with how sturdy it was that I didn't worry about any other mounts. I did add a bit more material to the gearbox mount and added another hole so it bolts up to four bolts now, extra one on the bottom .

Plate for pipe bracket to bolt onto attaches underneath by 3 bolts

Thanks for the replys and photos guys. I've got that bracket bolted under the motor but nothing connected to the header pipes. Maybe it was never installed. I had a look at their website and can't see a second bracket in their photos. I've bolted the muffler back on and see how long the ring bracket lasts this time.

It will break again without the front one attached

There is no front bracket supplied with the bobcat, something would have to be fabricated

Ok mine is the fatcat exhaust so I'm thinking maybe the bobcat has less weight being shorter and all,may be ok???

Mine did about 13000 Ks daggs

I just put my standard header pipes back on my Fatboy ( bracket was still there ) but did not have the carriage bolt ( thats what Harley call it ) that goes through the clamp and on the bracket. I did not ride the bike until I had this bolt because of the vibration and stress put on the exhaust system. Glad of my decision now

i've done around the 13000k mark as well, but think it had been broken for a while as the muffler had been moving back slightly over time.
