Ride report for the "Ride for Nomada" thread. I met the troops at the Mobil SS top of Glen Osmond road at 9.30am. There were familiar faces, Colstah, Tim SG, Linda, and their nephew Ted (sporting a new ride) I was introduced to Ralphski and went to shake the hand of the new fellow who had a brand spanker "red" ultra, when I recognised him as Norm (Nomada) the first forum bloke I ever met from the motley SA crew. While enjoying a coffee, 06 softail arrived and it was "stands up". We had a sensational start on the freeway and off the beaten track for a ride up through the hills along magic roads I've never been along. When we stopped at Cudley Creek we took it in turns congratulating Colstah on his road captaining prowess for such a great ride. Then he developed a mean streak. We headed down the notorious Gorge road and into aptley named Corkscrew Road, a narrow, very tight and twisty climbing road popular with cyclists but one I found tightened my butt cheeks on the Harley. I had the pleasure of following Nomada on his Ultra who must have thought he was back on his sporty the way he was throwing it around. It was a master class in big bike riding. Anyway, on one particularly viscious left hand climbing U corner, I found myself in the wrong gear and travelling a little too hot. By the time I'd recovered from the other side of the road, 06 had passed me on the inside. About half an hour later after more sensational riding we stopped at the Woodside Hotel for lunch. There we were met by Graz (sans his new bike), GT, and AndyK. After a short time Graz's wife Pauline turned up. I think linda will have some great pics. The pressure was relentless as they extolled the virtues of tourers. Thank goodness there wasn't an open country HD dealership else I would have been dragged to it. We had a great lunch and refreshments and told wild stories and I escaped them at about 2.00pm. Thanks to everyone, (sorry if I haven't mentioned you) who turned up and made the day a success. Steelo
Great write up Steelo . Thanks everyone for a big turnout to catch up with Nomada .
Colstah , your Captaining skills were flawless , excellent roads , thanks again .
After our mob from Strath lunched at Langhorne Creek some of us headed for Mt Barker to catch up with Norm and da boys. We finished up being chucked out of the bakery/coffee shop at closing time. Great to catch up again, Norm. Travel safely and regards to Julie.
The lad himself with his new ride!
Good write up Steelo, I dont think its going to be too long before you put your name down for one. Big thanks to Tim for getting the guys together and for allowing Col to take the lead for a change. I think he enjoyed it as I dont think he lost, dropped or forgot anything. And thanks to Linda for the pics. It was good to see Andy out on his sporty, but by Wednesday week might be the last sporty around out of the regulars. The twisties around the Adelaide hills are some of the best around and I am surprised just how nimble a 400kg bike can be After lunch some extended the ride and met up with Spook and Jen and it was really good to see everyone in high spirits. Must have been the excellent weather we had today. For those not able to make Edenhope, stay safe and we'll see ya's around again one day. For the rest.... bring on Friday.
