Ok  , question for those that know ,, I bought the low rider  , its a 103 motor ,, i'm not a rev head , so the bikes got enough power for me i put the se nightstick pipe on , .  Still running it in so need to put a couple thousand klm on before i get the true sound . At the moment though its 70 %  right , but could be a little louder and a little deeper ,  now i  have been told the supertrapp open end  will give me more note and probably what i want ,

But if i open it up with this will i need  to do the race tuner thing , like i said the bike runs  fast enough for me ,, Don't really want to spend  a 1000 or so getting something i don't really need , or is there another slip on that will do what i want , that does'nt  need a tuner .

     thanks in advance

So are you running a closed end cap on your nightstick?
If so, buying the open end cap definitely gives that better sound you're after but it changes the exhaust flow and you need to work out how many discs to run (you'd be removing discs going to an open end cap). If you want the bike to run to its optimum, get rid of the cat and any flapper still working in the header and get it dyno tuned with a tuner who's prepared to trial and error how many discs to run (it makes a difference).

I'm running a closed end , is'nt the cat in the front of the exhuast which means a complete new system , If i got this supertrapp open end , (think thats what it is ) will a dyno tune do it or does it need the race tuner to do the dyno ,, Honestly i don't know zilch about mechanics , only just worked out you have to turn a screwdriver

There are a few diff points:

    - the cat is in the head pipe. It causes heat and restricts flow. If you want to optimise it you can get rid of the cat in the stock head pipe. Heaps of stuff on this on forums inc this one.

    - according to supertrapp (and they host their own forum) going to the open end cap is supposed to be the equivalent of (removing) 8 discs.

    - you can have a general canned map for a free flowing exhaust whether it be a 2-1 pipe or 2-2 pipe, air cleaner etc. Some canned maps work well and make people happy. But you'll never know if/how much better it might run with a custom dyno tune. Just costs money. A good tuner will play around with the number of discs to get it optimised.

Another thing to consider is that LA Choppers make an endcap that can be opened and closed with the turn of a single screw which is pretty clever.
