Interesting article, more than a little cynical. There is another way to look at this issue:

    1. Imagine a world full of high quality, great service motorcycle dealerships, where people with lesser mechanical abilities feel comfortable to own and ride motorcycles.
    2. Imagine a world where manufacturers take responsibility for the vehicles that they sell in order to ensure the customer keeps coming back.
    3. Imagine people happy that thier dealer takes such good care of them, and the motorcycle industry begins to really thrive. More bikes, more people riding bikes.

I have been a mechanic for years, and respect that the author can fix his own bike. But many people have other aspirations, other interests, and they still want to ride. Imagine a world where we let them ride. Thats the world I want to live in.
