Ticking noise

My FatBob has developed a ticking noise.  It comes on when accelerating either light or hard.  It does not come on if the bike is reved while in nuetral. It goes faster when power is aplied at all speeds.

I have checked for leaks in inlet manifolds and exhaust as well and have changed seals and checked for leaks, no leaks.

I have put the standard air cleaner system back on as well, no change.

I suspect it is in the gearbox or clutch because it does not come on in neutral.

    Any ideas?

Been running 98 octane for 2 weeks no change.
Better check the timing that the thundermax is set at.

Put some banana skins in the gearbox.

But seriously, it's pretty hard to diagnose a noise on your bike on the interwebz.
I reckon take it to Frasers to get them to look at it, it's probly something silly.

The only thing I would ask is whether the noise is in time with the engine, the gearbox or the wheels.

I chased a squeek for yonks once, thinking it was brakes or a wheel bearing, nearly melted my brake discs trying to deglaze them.
Then I took it to frasers, they dabbed some dry lube on the drive belt, gave me a smile and sent me on me way.
    Doh !

So, I changed the map for the thundermax, went for a short spin and the noise is a lot less evident and mostly not there at all.
Seems it may have been pinging, hope I haven't fucked the motor because it was doing it for about 4,000 k.
Will post after Wednesday ride which will be about 250k.

Was using map 403 because of the Big Sucker and Rush mufflers. Have taken the Big Sucker off (see post in workshop , big sucker) and put the standard air filter set up back on. Now using map 404 which is the map for a stock motor, seems to run well and will know more after tomorrows ride. Will post results tomorrow night all being well.

after i got my first service ..... 900klms..... i had fitted my SE slip ons at 400klms.... got the guys to fit the big sucker and a SERT with the dyno etc.... i took the bike home and was real pleased with how much better it went... next day i took my bike for a blat and it developed a ticking sound.... only on exceleration ... had me stuffed...  and of course it had me really worried aswell ... but i found it.... it was the cable to that stupid exhaust flap...  where there cable is in the metal housing that bends around to hook up to the exhaust flap valve it was just knocking on the exhaust.... that was my ticking noise...

Ive had a ticking noise that turned up after I took my bike to the dealer for 8000k serviece they explained it was bad fuel and they change nothing to the tuneing during service. I got sick of argueing with pricks and bought tmax autotune. Runs better, still pings. Dealer says, wont harm it. Bullshit. Rollies speed shop reckon they'll check it out at next service. Im losing faith. See how those guys go. Anyone know if plugs can make a difference. A thats all the dealer probably cahnged that could make a difference.
