Front Brake Reservoir small leakage ?

    Hi all:

    relateively new to HD world.

    purchased a pre-owned MY2014 Heritage softail ~ 6 months ago. It's build in 2013.

I noticed there is small smudge of oil/fluid creeping out around the rubber seal of the Front Brake Reservoir (on right handle bar).

There is no decrease in brake performance, and the rubber seal appears to be intact.

Is it normal? or common for late model H.D bikes?

New bike warranty expire Oct 2015 (soon). I am wondering should I bring it back to the dealer to get it checked out?

or it's not really an issue, (I might get laughed at when I bring the bike it) ??

    many thanks !!

doesn't sound like a big issue mate but if its still under warranty you'd be mad not to get it fixed.

Common problem that a few years ago thay where replacing the worst ones and than sometimes and just giving them a clean and re tight to see what happens and also the paint would bubble take it back

The "bubbling" is caused by the DOT 4 brake fluid

If it has not bubbled yet , then take off the cap ( towel or similar over the tank !). Make sure the bars are a straight/horizontal as you can get them

Drop the cap straight into a pot of soapy water , rise and dry min the sun or with a hairdryer

CAREFULLY clean around the rim of the master cylinder , and you may have to reduce the level inside ( I use a syringe !)

Reassemble carefully , being not too brutal when tightening the 2 screws

If it has bubbled then it's 100% warranty for sure mate

Ive had the same observation on my 2014 wide glide too mate.
Has actually caused the paint to bubble around the seal.
I just had a huge argument with my local dealer and with HD Australia about warranty issues and lack of responsibility for damage to my rims from tyre fitting , damage to my rear cylinder from using a fucking open ender to tighten up a leaking exhaust.
Sorry to say HD Australia is as useless as a cunt full of cold water. They say take it up with the dealer and the dealer says HD Australia wont warrant it. As Im in the process of getting a new front wheel and going to twin disks Im not too worried because the master cylinder will get changed and the rear pot will be changed also but that's not the point. Sucks to be me yeah I know.Im doing all my maintenance now ,apart from log book services and have an Indie tuner with his own dyno lined up,as I simply don't trust the cunts.
Im interested to see how you go.Best of luck mate
