Ok, so I've done a bit of servicing on my 08 dyna that I picked up last weekend - dropped the oil, changed the filter.. started servicing the air filter and cleaning out the gunge that the previous owner didnt seem to know/care about...
I've bought the chrome back to a state where I'm fairly happy with most of it - but I find that the black on the engine isnt ' black ' it looks a bit dry and sunfaded ? if that makes any sense.. the black on the cylinder's around the engine seem dull and look tired.. there's a fair bit of grime in around the frame, bolts are corroded and the clips holding things are rusted... needless to say, this is not how a harley should look.. and I want to bring it back to what she should be.. I have no idea where to start in term's of what I should be doing first - is there anything I absolutely shouldn't do - etc.. I fear that this means I'm going to have to pull it all down, scrub it - or get it repainted and spend some time getting her looking beautiful again... the fuel tank has small scuff's and signs of wear.. there chrome on the front forks is dull... It seems like such a bloody daunting task, has anyone done this on their own before ( I'm in perth - i'm guessing it's been done many times , I'd appreciate all pointers and guidance as I am a complete newbie to hd's. If anyone's free, I'm more than happy to pay for your time the last thing I want to do is some half arsed job, I want to do it once - do it right....
CRC silicon spray, been using for years, do cables, engine , tyres, brake calipers etc etc. $16 a can and will do your bike about 3 times, more if ya just giving engine quick hit.
Super cheap always got it, blue and white can.
