Hi all,
Been riding jap bokes for the last 40 years, but the Z1000 was getting faster or I was getting way slower, so traded for a 2011 nightster. Best thing I've done in a long while, apart from taking early retirement. The bike is great apart from the woeful brakes and suspension. So ordered/taken delivery of cartridge kit, piggy back shocks, XRcaliper, braided line, EBC full floating rotor and ditched the bang-bang-bang V & H short shots for a D & D Bobcat. Swapped the wires for alloys off an 883 so I can run tubeless tyres. So now that the suspension, brakes and exhaust are sorted what about engine upgrades. Hammer 1250 is reasonabley priced, but do you know anything about their 88 and 90 inch kits? More interested in low to mid-range oomph than top end hp, as I said I'm an old cunt!
Cheers,
Howard
From one old cunt to a grumpy cunt, welcome mate!
How do you know I'm a grumpy cunt, doyou know my wife?
Thanks for the welcome guys,
As you know fork internals, rotors, callipers and braided lines all at home. V & H short shots being replaced by D & D Bobcat, chrome as "she who must be obeyed" wanted chrome and agreed to pay half, as I wanted black, who am I to disagree? Anyone want some short shots cheap?? The pipes just arrived. picked up a second hand, but unused SERT through Ando on the WA forum. Commander IIs and tank rise and coil relocation kit in the post. BUT had the flu and then "she who must be obeyed" got it, so no work done.Suppose that happens when you're an old cunt, but fuck it's made us both grumpy old cunts! Will hopefully start next week and let you know how she goes.
Still thinking about engine mods, 1250 and cams now or wait and see how she goes and the contemplate 1250 or 88/90 inch. 1250 somewhere between $2200 and 2500 depending on our exchange rate (plus any head work once here). 88/90 at least US$4000 without freight and the case and head work etc. Is it worth it or do I just save for a Dyna and have two bikes in five years?
