Have a little issue with my parteners 500.. after a ride she parks up the bike then 1/2hr later goes to start the bike and it self revs real high to the point of making people turn and look... this high ide speed last for about 5secs then returns back to normal idle.

Did a test again the other day went for a ride then parked up the bike for 2hrs and started it with no problem.

Got me thinking maybe the computer is trying to do a cold start on a already hot motor thus making it idle high..

    anyone else have this issue

I am not sure how the system works on the street .
Though from experience with efi most have an iac Or idle air control valve to control the idle wich moves in and out to compensate and keep a steady idle.
Problems i have seen mess with idle is dirty valves wich you shouldn't have yet.
Inproper adjutment of the tps or throttle position set screw commonly mistaken as an idle screw by many a fool. But may not have been adjusted correctly at the factory or just need readjusting now the engine has run a bit this can cause the iac to sit out more steps then it should to compensate and it takes time to correct the idle.
    Air leaks on the intake.
That's enough of my babble hoping it's still under warranty and you can fob the problem off to the dealers to deal with .

Cheers lads for the feed back....yeh I might take it back for HD to sort out.... its a shame because we both really enjoyed the bike . I loved taking the bike into the city over my Night Rod..
it only happens when we start the bike back up when it's hot...odd

It's a common thing mate, my missus new one does the same thing.
Question for you, after a ride and bike comes back to idle do you notice a noisy top end at all. Missus bike sounds a bit rattle at idle.

No issue there bud.. thats the dissapointing part it rides great, excelerates fine, and when it does return to normal idle it sounds smooth..

There's a recall on some of them right now, fuel supply issue I believe. Might wanna check if yours is one, get it all checked out that way. Ours is one for recall

    may be this....the dreaded IAC

Different Harley in the Vid but the usual suspect for the symptoms you are describing

Mine does it from time to time, I have a new IAC but am yet to change it as the bloody thing seems fine at the moment!!!

even new Iac valves can play up, all they are is a electronic plunger that goes up & down to allow / restrict air into the throttle body.

If you remove the air filter and cycle the ignition (dont start) you should see it move in/out.
If it seems to move in/out smoothly its most likely ok. if it seems to be stuttering or not moving in/out smoothly it could be dodgy or have a buld up of oil around the threads of the plunger

lastly, use CRC MAF sensor cleeaner as its much safer on plastic as opposed to throttle body or brake cleaner
