Big 600km ride today. Took the hwy up from the Gold Coast and turned off at Caboolture, into Kilcoy. Enjoyed a pie and a coffee at the Kilcoy bakery, then onto Esk via the Esk-Kilcoy rd. Easily one of the nicest roads I've ridden in QLD, purely for scenic value. Pulled around one corner and managed to catch a big eagle feasting on a dead fox right by the roadside, stopped and grabbed some pics. From Esk I head to Crows Nest via the Esk-Crows Nest Rd. Quite narrow with unfenced stock so had to be mindful of cows, and 2 gravel sections of reasonable length make for a little slower going, but all great adventure. Bunch of guys at the Crows Nest pub doing a charity ride, and a servo that has vortex 98. From there on the weather went south and Crows to Toowoomba was a fairly soaked affair, same again from T'Ba to Warwick. No wet weather gear saw me wet and freezing so it really became a mission to just get home and safe. Shame, because I was keen for lunch at the Spotted Cow pub in Toowoomba, but I just brushed it and kept going. Took the cunninghame hwy just before Warwick proper, into Boonah, Beaudesert and Canungra, rode straight through to Nerang then home. Shivering like a leaf in my driveway and straight in for a hot shower and a couple of ales. 300km of fun scenic riding, and another 300km of cold wet rubbish. I'm keen to do this again, with a few more stopovers and a bit more sunshine.

Sounds like it would be an enjoyable ride in the right weather.

Lesson: Always carry your wet gear and be prepared for changes in weather.

Yes, I've also failed to study for the exam, but not anymore.
