Be interested to know about the gps tracker. Also be interested to know about remote explosive device you could set off once your bike was pinched.
Did read in the paper the other day ( SO IT MUST BE TRUE ) that Toyota Hiluxes are top of the list for stolen vehicles and in most cases the house is broken into first...the keys are found...and off go the cunts with the hilux.
A good little nook/hiding spot that a thief would not find easily is the go to hide your keys. Make sure the Harley keys are hidden far enough away from the bike though to activate the alarm.
Ferocious dogs are no guarantee against anything either.
Hialeah, that's good news for you.
Do you think your claims might just bump up your future premiums?
No mate, nothing over the top usual yearly increases.
Yeah?
Good oh!, then.
Maybe I am turning into an old miserable, crotchety, pessimistic misanthropist for no reason.
A mate, who always said if someone really wanted your hog they would get it, thought the solution for when you're travelling is to render your bike inoperable in a non-obvious way. So when travelling he would take a spark plug with the earth electrode broken off and refiled, and put that non-firing spark plug in the bike when left overnight. I'm sure others with mechanical intutitions can think of similar non-obvious sabotage. Unfortunately if time and circumstances enable pick up and removal or wheeling away, most other forms of protections can be circumvented. The removal of bike thieves' hands might thus be a start?
Hey China, how do you know the thieves modus operandi?
Both those scenarios are how I imagine fair-dinkum crooks would go about it. The second one was particularly bold, but I suppose the job was done before anyone had time to digest what was happening, besides who is going to argue with two blokes strong enough to lift a Harley on to the back of a truck.
I know $10,000 of accessories isn't that much by Harley owner standards but I'm thinking I really should change my policy to agreed value so that I don't end up with a stock (or nearly stock) bike and have to spend another $10,000 getting a bike set up to suit me again.
I sort of wish that we were allowed to use guns like in the US where the Castle principle applies and you can shoot an intruder
If you have an old smartphone - Iphone or Android laying around, you can download a free app - Presence - and have the old phone set up as a camera, and your good phone set up as a remote.
Set up the old phone pointing at your bike, leave it connected to power. When alarmed (by setting up rules or a geofence), any movement will trigger a text/email to you, with a small video showing the action.
best thing is its free !
