    Hi All.

I've got a 2014 Fatboy and its stock standard except for the Fuelpak FP3 which I recently got.  I've been looking for some slip ons for now to give the bike a nicer sound.

My question is, if I find a second hand set of slip ons, what year models are interchangeable with my 2014 model?

    thanks,Ben.

    hi Ben

I could be wrong but am pretty sure that most 2007 onwards FLSTF slip ons will fit but best to check manufacturers sites.

I have S&S tapered slipons (p/n 55-6042) which look just like the standard pipes and are great. They give a nice deep rumble at idle, can be relatively tame whilst cruising and let you know they are there when opening the throttle without any harshness.
    I highly recommend them.

Thanks Rob. I've read some reviews on the s and s. They look good.
    Thanks for the reply.

Picked up a pair of SE slipons cheap from a mate who had them on his CVO but didn't like the 'offset' look.  They have cats fitted at the 'out' end so no EPA issues.  They were a bit quiet at first, so I 'tweaked' the inlet end of the baffle and now they sound great with a performance boost too ( the originals were ridiculously restricted) loud enough to know its a Harley but not obnoxiously loud to cause a headache. ??

    G'day Upstart,

When I first put them on, I thought they still sounded a bit quiet.  I tried everything to get the baffles out but they wouldn't budge, so looked at the inlet end to see what could be done there.  There is a metal ' flap' on the end which is actually the inner baffle pipe end folded down to force the exhaust gases through the the outer baffle holes.  I was going to enlarge the holes but because the baffles wouldn't come out, I opened up the flap a little ( with a big screwdriver and hammer!) to allow more exhaust straight down the middle.  It's a trial an error method, but the slipons are so easy to get on and off, it's no biggie to do it a few times till you are happy with the sound.

My daughters partner has the same bike with a full stage 1 and big radius pipes and he reckons my bike has more down low torque and the same top end, so there you go! A real cheap mod!  I just replaced the stock air filter element with a K&N with iridium plugs and it runs fine, no popping.

    Let's know how you go

    Cheers, Craig

    Just an update:
I've fitted the slip ons and they sound ok. I think I'll pull the baffles out and start tweaking.

Thanks again for all the advice.

    Ben.

K&N HD 1499 , stock replacement air filter , $100 on Aussie ebay delivered

Hacksaw off the flapper valve on the air intake , 35 to 40% better airflow ( if it was an "Aussie" bike when new !)

I've just done these exact mods to a mate's brand new 2015 Fatboy ,fitted some 2009 (slightly modded) Screamin eagle mufflers I had in the shed already

I have some Nightrider FL-10 XIED wires to fit to it and she'll be all good

Best bang for the buck all round that way

    G'day Retroman,
Is the flapper valve located behind the air filter? (Yep, my bike's an Australian one)

I've got the Vance and hines Fulepak FP3 fitted to take care of the map.

    Any pictures/diagrams you know of?

    Cheers, Ben.

2 "flapper valves" , one in the upper exhaust pipe , just make sure it's open 100% of the time. Pop rivet or small discrete stainless steel screw

The other is in the air intake throat. Just hacksaw it off on the "in" side , and it will pull/fall out

Use a damp rag to catch the Aluminium swarf as you hacksaw
