Short shot or Big shot - aside from the noise being back behind the rider, any reason I should have one over the other? Based in WA so keen on hearing any experience from the legal side of all this too.

Legal side, nope, one over the other, big shot staggered a better pipe performance wise due to the power chamber, neither are great pipes for performance but both look great, I've tuned bikes with both, they are loud but you can get rid of the popping and turn it into a burble. Stock headers and decent slip on's work well and are easier to backtrack for plod should you need to, depends on what your focus is.
