ALDI currently have motorcycle gear on special. I bought the leather motorcycle jacket for $149 since the lining in my 25 year old stagg jacket is starting to wear badly

    Overall impression:

Reasonably well mad with lots of features such as removable body armour in elbows, shoulders and back. The lining can also be removed and zippered vents in the sides for summer riding. 1 large internal pocket and two external pockets. The leather is not as stiff as my stagg jacket but not bad. The back comes down low to give good protection.

Here are a few issues I have found with mine:

The sleeves have a tiny strap at the cuff that velcros to the sleeve.  The strap has the smooth half of the Velcro and the sleeve the rough half. On the small jacket, the strap only goes about a third of the way across the rough Velcro. So if you wear gauntlet gloves the rough Velcro catches and in time will tear the lining of your gloves which probably cost more than this jacket. So I have removed the straps and velcro since they just are not necessary. The zips in the pockets have tiny pulls which tend to go flush with the zipper making it difficult to get hold of them and open. To solve this I will make some leather tabs that can be grabbed hold of easier. Another thing I have found with the jacket is the strap at the neck is also very tight but can be adjusted a bit.

Overall it should provide more protection than my ageing stagg jacket but the stagg jacket is so much more practical with pockets in the right places and great quality fittings and better leather.

Many years ago ( maybe way to many years ago) I got my mum to sew an old shirt inside for new lining on my stagg jacket

    That is a top idea.

Sure is a top idea for a degrading liner. I have an old HD jacket where the leather is in great condition but the inside liner is starting to fray. I was thinking it might only last a couple more years. I only wear it in winter and it is a bit big, so I might just find a good quality flannel shirt with a liner and get it done by a seamstress over the summer.

I actually bought one of the Aldi Jackets but returned it. I removed the back armour aas that was bugging me and it felt pretty good. Agree the sleeve and wrist strap area were a pain. Most gloves wont go over them.

I bought one of the Aldi jackets and am very happy with. I too removed the back armour as it is too stiff, what I/missus did about the sleeve ends is un pick the Velcro stuff as its not needed and all is good.
