    Hi all,

I just got cams done. I went with SE204's in my 103 fatty. I'm really happy with the change in power & has a nice sounding idle too. I went for a ride with a mate who has a night rod with exhaust & filter done & we lined them up & i was surprised that i could keep up. Yes it pulled away from me but i wss still in the picture - so money well spent. The dealer only did a remap so i would like some advice on a dyno tune. Will i notice a improvement in power with a dyno tune? Will it be worth the money? The bike seems to be running real well - dosent even backfire anymore on desell with the dreaded short shots! What do you guys think. Should i fork out for a dyno tune?

A dyno tune will always be better than whatever map they put on your bike. Being SE cams the map they've put on should probably be fine because it'll be closer to the SE maps they'd be using and the decel pop going away is a good sign, but I'll always recommend a dyno tune if you've gone beyond stage 1.

Did you do the install yourself or did you get a dealer to do it....If a dealer what was a rough cost??

    Cheers...

Sounds like a good improvement, and its good your happy, but the bloke on the rod must have been fat like me or he wasn't trying real hard. Just saying.....

Good to see your happy with your latest mods ..
I take it you have a SE race tuner, (install being done by dealer). As you have a base line dealer EPA compliant down loaded map flashed for your upgrade ,(ie, stage 2), you can do some 20 minute runs with the smart tune feature, and dial it in to a level your happy with. (you will need cables and software, and be a little savvy with a computer).
It sounds like your dealer does'nt have a dyno in their workshop ,, seeing you have the SE race tuner, find an Indy workshop, (or Dealer), that has a dyno and works with the SE tuner . Post up where you live , and someone here may recommend a competent tuner in your area.

Back to your real question ,, "Should I fork out for a dyno tune" , or settle for the dealer down load, and or, a few smart tune runs ?? This question has been asked many , many times, in your situation, and more so on a basic stage 1 ..

The dealer is constrained with their downloads due to the epa requirements, with regard certain parameters of the tune that they can change and manipulate. Does this mean your bike is not going to have the reliability, and longevity that it should ?? In my opinion No...

A good custom ,(dyno), tune is just that , for your bike and mods , without the epa constraints ... To get you custom tune, (as you have the SE tuner), you will be forking out approx , $500 -- 600 .

Now my opinion , for what its worth ,,, You have a nice new bike , blinged it up how you want ,, done some nice mods on her, to have some extra grunt ,, no doubt got her sounding great ,,, go and spend the money and give her a custom tune , you wont fucking sleep at night if you don't !!!!!!

    Good luck !!!!!

Only you can say if it's worth it or not.

There is no way of knowing what improvement you will get for sure but I would say, yes definitely get it dyno'd.

I swear by them. You never really know how well your bike is tuned unless you get it done.

As stated above you need to say where you are located so people can recommend where to take it.

    Thanks for the info guys
Sparra - Frasers have a special on $1100
FLHuTChu- im fat too mate. We raced off the lights probably got up to about 120kph over about 200m. I was only about 30m or so behind when we backed off. I was pretty happy with that because before the cams I would still be at the lights - lol
