I got myself a tourer

Earlier this year I test rode a Rushmore street glide and thought what a great bike it was. At the time there was no road glide or ultra at my local dealer to test ride but I gave both consideration. I couldn't buy a new one so scoured sales of second handers and found a low km 2013 road glide that looked the goods and was a bloody great deal. Went and saw it, test rode it, paid a deposit and picked it up a few days ago. Rode it a few hours home with a shit eating grin on my face. I'll post a pic of it when I next access a desktop PC.

Bike is a 2013 aus delivered road glide in vivid black but only sold new here 11 months ago. Had 2,500km on it and not yet serviced. Has another year warranty and then extended warranty into 2017. Freedom 2-1 exhaust in black, screamin eagle ventilator and a race tuner.

First impressions are good but it needs new handlebars as a priority. I'm 6'1" and the reach is beyond a comfortable one for me. Dunno how shorter blokes would go but there's a reason why they changed the handlebars and fairing in the Rushmore road glide. I'll get new handlebars after I get my seat sorted out.

Next I'm going to get a baggershields adjustable windshield. 10.5 inches up to 17 inches.

It'll go in for a service and check over asap. Left side speaker not working so that can be sorted then too. Right side floor board vibrated on my 3 hour ride home so I'll check out the cause which is probably exhaust related.

Very happy thus far. The rubber mounted "a" motor has a bit of character in it and seems to roll on smoother than the counter balanced "b" engine I was used to. Definitely an improvement on the 96 stage 1 softail engine I originally had and for me I can't see myself spending lots upgrading the engine as it goes pretty well as is.

Wondering why it never had the 1500 km service, my CVOs first service was around 1800 ks as we where away on a ride when
    it became due.

The first service for a Rushmore in the book is the 1800km

    Thanks for the feedback lads.

First service done. Bars pulled back as far back as they can practically go but still not right. Gonna buy khrome werks sweeper bars to sort the issue.

Found out today at dealer that the windshield on my road glide is not standard and significantly shorter. Looks pretty cool but stuff all wind protection so my baggershields adjustable screen should sort that and then I'll be able to better hear the stereo at speed.

Gonna upgrade speakers and add an amp eventually. Anyone used hog tunes. I should probably do a search aye

Haven't ridden it as much as I'd like on account of freezing shit weather here and house husband duties. But I'm amazed at how well this bike handles for the size of it. It drops into turns and tracks so much better than my fatboy that it's not funny. Even at low speed it's still pretty bloody good.

The one thing that pisses me off with this forum is that you can't simply upload a pic from an iPhone. I'll upload a pic over the weekend when I pull the laptop out.

In 2011 and onwards many of my riding crew "switched" over to Baggers.

I've been doing all their tuning etc so I'm pretty familiar with them for a "non-owner"

    Mostly guys in their late 50's and 60's , I'm 55

So far I have resisted , as I'm "not old enough" yet haha...

Another mate bought a 4,000 mile 2010 103 Ultra LTD when we were at Daytona Bikeweek 4 years ago. Bought it from Klockwerks the Bagger accessory and Custom mob.

One of the bikes in the Klockwerks brochure , the red and black 2 tone Ultra , with all the shit from their catalogue on it

I checked it over for him ( it was of course a pure peach of a thing !) and I rode it around.

First 12 miles it was a "*unt of a thing" , next 20 it was MARVELLOUS !

Can't explain that really , handled well for a barge , and whacked 80 MpH no worries from rest

Once back in Perth it got 255 cams , catless header pipe and a "Tune-up" from me. Goes even better now !

He's still got it , it's his "Perth" bike

    Update on my steed:

New windscreen works a great. Don't think I'll need to upgrade the stereo as it's pretty clear with the top part (or extension part) of my baggershields on.

Still waiting for my fairing lowers but ordered some aftermarket lockable doors for the glove boxes. The Harley doors were a rip off and the button-closing flaps are ridiculous. Why they can't include doors on a $900 product is unbelievable.

It's now in at local dealer having some work done.
Khrome werks sweeper 2+2 handlebars are on and managed to keep the original throttle and brake cables although the brake cable had to be re-routed and is near the end of its limits. Clutch cable is too short so being replaced with a clutch cable from a dyna! Who'd of though the dyna clutch cable is 3 inches longer than a tourer's?!

Oh yeah, it's also getting a 120r engine installed.

Just jokin about the 120r. But it's now got se204 cams fitted. Just gotta get stronger clutch spring, will fit a clutch whiz retainer that I bought but didn't use for my last bike to lighten the clutch pull, get the above dyna clutch cable in and then it'll be dyno tuned early next week. Yea ha

You didn't fancy the SE 255 "Bagger" cams then ?

They go well in tourers ( and are the "stock" cams in CVO's !)

Considered the 255 cam but don't reckon it's as well suited to the 103 engine as the 96 and 110 engines on account of the 103 engine having higher compression and the higher temps and risk of detonation with the 255's early intake close.

If i hadn't of limited my choice to se cams, the andrews 48 would have been under consideration but even andrews don't recommend this cam for the 103 due to the higher compression and the 48's intake close occurs later than the 255.

Another cam I would have otherwise considered was the TTS-100 from Steve cole's tts. Early days for this cam and appears you can only buy it by phoning tts in LA.
